Description

I was able to score a lot of water cooling parts from kijiji that is why i was able to pull off this upgrade. Most of the parts in this upgrade is from my old rig and only the water cooling parts are new

This is also my first water cooling attempt (especially acrylic tube). Wasted about 40 inches worth of acrylic tube. The case is tight with all of the parts installed but i was still able to cram the cables on the back side to make it not visible.

Case changes: - Removed the upper 5.25 bays to fit my 360 and 420 rads - Removed the protruding fan mounts on the front to make the fans and 240 rad flushed.

Watercooling items: - Aquacool vario D5 pump - EK XTOP D5 - Bitspower Multi-z tube reservoir - Bitspower fittings - Primochill Revolver hardline fittings (Painted it to black) - Primochill PETG Tube 10mm ID/ 12mm OD - 2x EK FC970 GTX TF5 Waterblock - 2x EK FC970 GTX TF5 Backplate - Koolance CPU-380I - Aquacool 240 rad - XSPC EX360 rad

The flexible tubing in the pic was one of the items that were included when i bought the bundle from kijiji. Didn't use it in the build other than for fill port.

The Primochill PETG 10mm ID/12mm OD didn't fit the EK 10mm silicone at all. I had to shave some of the silicone off to fit the tube. Primochill knows this too and its in one of their videos which i had hope I saw when i order the tube.

Overall I am pretty pleased with the result. I have learned a lot from bending tubes to making my custom led (still cheaper than retail).

EDIT

The LEDs i'm using are the LE Lampux 12V Flexible LED Strip Lights from amazon. Around $9 for the regular 5m and $11 for the waterproof 5m.

EDIT 2

I added the white LED pix. Which one is better? red or white?

+1 for that router cooling

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

Hahaha Thanks! You have keen eyes sir :D

monkeybars 1 point 31 months ago

How is the fan powered? And did you dremel out the top of the router?

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 6 points 31 months ago

Yup. I cut a hole on the front bezel and mount the fan with industrial velcro. I cut an old USB 2.0 cable and a 3pin female connector and solder the hot(+) and ground(-) wire and connect the fan to the 3pin connector. Just make sure to use a low amp fan so that you can power it through the usb port of the router.

monkeybars 1 point 31 months ago

Neat, thanks for the explanation!

TGK_Gaming 4 points 31 months ago

44 GHz!!!?? Wow man! (Lol, just change it to 4.40)

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 3 points 31 months ago

hahaha lol. did not see that. would be nice to get that kind of speed tho.

piemancoder 3 points 31 months ago

I think I would consider it something better than "nice". :)

DDR4worx 1 point 13 months ago

Yea XD

vikingXcore 4 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

can you imagine how much he could overclock a pentium then?!

DDR4worx 1 point 13 months ago

I Found this very funny XD

[comment deleted]
jaredt 1 Build 2 points 31 months ago

Wow 44ghz overclock. That's crazy! Haha all jokes aside great build. 4.4 is respectable definitely +1

Oldsnivy100 3 Builds 10 points 31 months ago

Nahhh m8 it is possible

With my fully custom Mountian Dew cooling loop and my Dorito case I can easly hit 9001.0Ghz

It's plays crisis 7 on amazing settings and it also has a mountian dew dispencer in the Front. All of the scrubs be rekt

piemancoder 2 points 31 months ago

IT'S OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!! I only got 8999 ghz on my core i70

mlach 4 Builds 3 points 31 months ago

Well then you my friend, are doing something wrong ;)

[comment deleted]
Johnston12 2 points 31 months ago

I bet all that mountain dew and doritos really comes in handy when playing COD 10 on ultra graphics with ultimate Kevin Spacey face texturing and polygon count.

Oldsnivy100 3 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

Yeah m8 I rek all of da scrubs on Cod 12!

The core i8 gr8 m8 I r8 11/8 is a gr8 processor

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

haha yeah. I'm happy with the 4.4 for now because i am planning to upgrade to an i7.

IrshaadH 1 Build 2 points 31 months ago

flip that rear fan around, you have it as intake right now.

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

That's intentional because there's not much intake air coming in the case anymore and i want cool air to be sucked in by the 3 sp120's to cool the 360 rad.

Junki3011 2 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

B-E-A-utiful build sir but that fan's orientation is making me twitch a little

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks! I know. It's new to me too to have an intake at the back, but having it as an exhaust i noticed that the air inside was warm and when i flipped it to intake, it helped a ton in bringing cool air to pass through the 360 rads.

piccolodude 1 Build 2 points 31 months ago

This is a pretty clean build the only thing is I would have went with white LEDs. The red washes out the fact that your using red pastel water cooling, but that's just my opinion.

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks! I did try it with White but the Red Pastel concentrate became pinkish :/

[comment deleted by staff]
ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

I agree with piccolodude. The upkeep for every few months was from before the fluid got biocide etc. I am planning to do my maintenance atleast a year (flushing out all the blocks and replacing the fluid).

[comment deleted by staff]
ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Don't quote me on that. That's just my plan based from what i heard. hehe. I get what you, i didn't really need to do this too but i see alot of cool builds online that made me want to do it and when i got that good deal on kijiji i couldn't stop anymore.

[comment deleted by staff]
piccolodude 1 Build 1 point 31 months ago

The up keep isn't as bad as it was when water cooling first came out, now you can get away with logger times before you have to do a flush. The benefits from water cooling is you can run your fans at a lower rpm for a quieter case, heat is dissipate to the air faster keeping things cooler the only thing that people don't look at is that the liquid will only be as cool as your room so if you have a small room a water cooling system will heat up you room making the temp in you room higher making the liquid warmer over time.

My suggestion is do your resurrect I watched a lot of JayzTwoCents on youtube lol.

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

I agree. I watch a lot of JayzTwoCents too. I learn a lot from just watching his water cooling videos. Also, i just watched Paul's water cooling build and it has similar tube route to mine (He has better hardware though).

darkestdargon 1 point 28 months ago

i watch JayzTwoCents as well and this water cooling reminded me of his computer "skunckworks"

Luigiox 3 Builds 2 points 27 months ago

+1 for Gundam.

mzimmerman23 1 point 31 months ago

Looks as messy as my room! And well done on the rigid tubing, looks much better IMO than the flexible kind.

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

Thanks! it certainly looks cleaner than flexible tubing.

Killeneminem 3 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Can you share what you learned about bending acrylic tubes? Your work looks great!

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

wasted about 40 inches of acrylic tubes tho from kinks, bubbles and wrong measurements. Just use the low settings on your heat gun and don't let the acrylic be too soft, just enough to make your bend. I only did 6 bends in this build though so it wasn't that frustrating.

violetrainxx 2 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Wow, this is sexy. +1

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks!

bigg_critter 1 Build 1 point 31 months ago

a work of art to be sure...+1

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks!

ncarter13 2 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Immaculate

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks!

Derpmau 3 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Gorgeous. I love the rigid tubing. I'd like to try using rigid tubing when I cool my 980s sometime down the road, I can only hope it looks good as this.

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks! I'm sure you can pull it off, just buy a lot of extra tubing just like me. I still have 2 36inch PETG tubing left.

ivan_lazarov 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Great water cooling job man! Mine has been sitting next me for the last couple of weeks... several days until the end of the semester I will put it together as well!

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

Thanks. Can't wait to see the result man!

HertzKnight 2 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Very nice build indeed. I have a 750D and was thinking about doing water-cooling (I wouldn't mind trying out a 420 rad on top with push pull configuration). Overall how difficult was this for you?

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

I had to remove the 5.25 bay to make space for my tubes/fittings to connect the 2 rads and dremel some protruding holes in front. I brain farted when i didn't install the fans in the 360 rad first before doing the leak test and some of the sp120's only has 3 screws in them and the rear intake isn't even on the marked holes for the rear 120 but its on the mesh holes. I'm not sure if you can fit a 420 rad on the top of a 750D though.

A_shady_person 1 point 31 months ago

I'm not sure why nobody has said anything about this but that's actually a pretty sweet OC on the GPUs. 1.52Ghz? That's pushing the upper limits of what those 970s can do. +1

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

Yeah. I just put it as my max OC that was able to get to run the tests but i did dial it down on normal days since i wasn't to happy about the voltage and coil whine (omg the coil whine is ANNOYING). :D

Veizin 2 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Is that the base clock or the boost clock? If that's the base clock, what is your maximum in game observed clock? Would really love to see that. Have BIOS hacked them?

Also what settings (volts) did you use to get the overclock on the CPU/GPUs?

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

That's the boost clock. No, i just enabled the voltage control in afterburner but i had to dial it down a bit because i wasn't happy with the coil whine :/

CPU - 1.280v GPU - i forgot what i set it to but i will reply again later when i get home.

Veizin 2 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

sigh I guess it's just how much the 970s can do. I guess to get the true performance benefits of water cooling you'd have to bioshack and volt them to death. :D

P.S. Beautiful build by the way. It's pretty much exactly what I would want my build to look like.

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

Thanks! Yeah, I'm not to comfortable bios hacking my 970's and so far it plays any game in ultra/high in 1440p.

MauTech 1 point 31 months ago

Beautiful work! This is showcase material! How long did it take you to do this upgrade?

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

Thanks. Took me almost a month to get all of the items and tools needed and about a week to assemble them.

stnz 1 Build 1 point 31 months ago

Amazing stuff ! :)

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks :)

ankousmachine 2 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

wow awesome for a first timer, if you ever wanna build another 1, go to frozen cpu, best watercooling site ive seen.

1+ for awesomeness.

Tooth 1 Build 1 point 31 months ago

Awesome work, I really enjoyed the pics.

"frozen cpu"......did you hear what happened to Frozen CPU and the owner? I quit buying after hearing the news

ankousmachine 2 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

what happened? haven't heard any bad reviews from them at all lol.

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Apparently the owner fired all of the employees.

ankousmachine 2 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

:o this has opened up my entire mind about them. thanks for da info :P.

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks!

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks! I was suppose to get some of the parts there but it was around the time where the incident in frozen cpu happened. I think they are still not accepting orders as of today.

ryanp83 31 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

looks amazing!

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks!

TheGazelle36 1 point 31 months ago

Crazy Overclock! BTW I'm a Gundam Seed Fan too (I saw the Aile Strike, Justice and Destiny Model Kits) anyways this is a great build, you're really talented.

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks! hahaha i'm trying to complete the set but its hard to find the other models on a reasonable price.

TheGazelle36 1 point 31 months ago

IKR! Though OO is my favorite gundam series, next is wing though.

TechyinAZ 14 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Nice work. Looks good! How in the world do you get the right length hoses since those are not bendable?

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks! Hoses? Do you mean the Bitspower Extender fittings? I had a bunch of them with different lengths from the bundle that i bought off kijiji. I mostly just tried a couple of configurations and luckily it lined up perfectly.

TechyinAZ 14 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Ah yes that's what I mean lol.

Wow nice, if I were going to do a cooling loop, i'd get the "hoses" you got. :D

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

It would be cheaper to do the bend though. I was just fortunate that i had a bunch of extenders but if i didn't, i would have bend the PETG tubing.

confuzledandlost 33 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

One of the best looking water-cooled 450D's I've seen, bravo sir +1

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

Thanks!

SethK 1 point 31 months ago

I have the same PSU and was thinking about running sli but wasn't sure about the if 750w was enough, how has your experience been so far?

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Ohh its more than enough! I guess in situation it is since the maxwell cards aren't power hungry. Its a different story if you're crossfiring 2x 290s.

deuel18 1 point 31 months ago

^ those Mobile Suits on the background....looking cool man ^^

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

hahaha Thanks :D

8kchiadr 3 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

very nice. i do appreciate that routing job with cables and cooling. +1.

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks! I had to zip tie most of the cables to case so that it doesn't give any unnecessary force to the fittings.

lightningzepher 2 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

I'm not usually a huge fan of the red/black color scheme, but seriously, with that red led/custom loop combo on top of the black background/case looks sick! Seriously awesome/beautifully done build.

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks! I am gonna try a white daylight led as i noticed a lot of comments are asking me to try it out.

IMANice16 1 point 31 months ago

Hey man beautiful rig, what lights are you using, and how did you wire them up?

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 2 points 31 months ago

Thanks! These are just some red LED strips from amazon (10 bucks for 5m length, 12v). I re-used the 3-pin to molex connector that i had the cut off the 3 pin part, so now i have a molex connect with a positive and negative wire, i connected the negative wire (ground) to the negative connection point in the strip. Next is i connected the positive wire of the molex connect to one of the prongs in my switch (2 pronged switch) the other prong is connected to another wire which i then connect to the positive connection point of the led strip. So, the led strip is being powered by my PSU but i can still turn it on/off using the switch.

Jobran 1 point 31 months ago

Is it possible for a beginner who just made his first build to make a custom water loop like the one you're showing?

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

I'm sure it is. But i did almost a year of planning and watching tutorials from making sure your case can handle the size of the radiators and if it doesn't hit any of the motherboard parts to watching countless tutorials on watercooling and reviews. I guess what I'm saying is to do the research and always double/triple check the items that you are gonna use and don't be in a hurry. When you reach a stopping point, don't force it and ask for help on forums or videos.

MLGComputers 1 Build 1 point 31 months ago

What are the LED light branded as?

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

They are the LE Lampux 12V Flexible LED Strip Lights from amazon. About $9 for the regular and $11 for the waterproof version. Its length is 5 meters

MLGComputers 1 Build 1 point 31 months ago

Thnx.Really wanted some cheap stuff that works

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Yeah. It also comes with some strip connectors in case you want to extend its length or connect a different color.

MLGComputers 1 Build 1 point 31 months ago

Can you connect remote?

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

I think you can. But you have to pay for it separately. I haven' t tried it though.

piccolodude 1 Build 1 point 31 months ago

Forgot to ask how do you like your Corsair 450D for water cooling I have one in my build and will be going water cooling as soon as I get the money. I know the cable management on this case is almost none existent.

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Its TIGHT!! haha before watercooling i created a cover over the bottom part of the case covering the PSU using 2 acrylic sheets, L brackets and screws so that i can store the cables on the front without it being visible. But now, i have to shove it to the back and strap them to the case so its barely visible. Its a very cool case, i liked the airflow on it before water cooling but its hard to get fresh air in now. Maybe go with a 750D for bigger space. hehe

piccolodude 1 Build 1 point 31 months ago

I already have the case and I don't really have the space for a 750D, I already have the cables ran and hidden pretty well you can see it in my build right now. I don't plan on getting as thick of rads you have but then again I plan on doing a push/pull setup so it will be about as think as your rads.

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Yeah. I wasn't able to do the push/pull at the top even if i have an EX360 which is a bit thin and also in the front since i have to mount my reservoir on it. Maybe if you have bay reservoir but then again if you have a 360 at the top you can either have the ports at the front (removing the 5.25 bay) or put it in the back but you can't use your rear mounts anymore. if it is a 240 rad at the top then its no problem.

iamwildbear 1 point 31 months ago

Killer build dude! only if i could do that with my dual 270X and my 6300. love water cooling 1+

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks! I'm a previous 270x owner too, its a great card except it runs too hot :3.

iamwildbear 1 point 31 months ago

Aye thanks for the info! :D

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

You're welcome!

Kurogashi 1 point 31 months ago

i wanna copy your build. is there anything you would do differently?

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Probably a bit bigger case.

daconmanz 1 point 31 months ago

Hey man, I love what u have done. It looks sweet! I just have a couple questions. What braided cables are those? What switch did u use for your LEDs?

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks! Those are just the BitFenix Alchemy extension cables and i just have a simple 2 pin rocker switch ($5 worth).

iPhotek 1 point 31 months ago

Damn. Real fancy pipework there man! Really impressed!

Probably one of the best hard pipe builds I've seen in a while! +1

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks!

gre3nary 1 Build 1 point 31 months ago

NICE BUILD!!

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks!

Gabe123 1 Build 1 point 31 months ago

looks clean as hell , but i only watercool if i had the best of the best parts for my rig , with the money of watercooling you can just go x99

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thanks! As I've said I only went ahead with this because of the bundle deal i got of kijiji. All of the parts for water cooling including blocks, rads, backplates, pump, reservoir and fittings came down to $380 which is a steal compared to if you buy the gpu water blocks alone would cost you $300. And all i was lacking was the PETG tube, D5 TOP and mayhems red concentrate. And $500 bucks won't be enough to upgrade to x99.

InfamousMEE 1 point 31 months ago

love you

Tommo791 1 point 30 months ago

White is better :D

pbjoker21 1 point 30 months ago

Wow. Very nice and clean build! Has me wanting to watercool even more now!!!

BTW I see you might be a flight sim kinda guy. +1 to that for sure. If you fly on vatsim come stop by EWR gnd and say hi ;)

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Thanks! i actually just got hooked with flight sim when my gf got me the Saitek x52. I haven't tried Vatsim though and i mostly just play at DCS or WarThunder but i will give it a try though :D

adamquinny 1 point 30 months ago

magnifico

DTF1129 2 Builds 1 point 29 months ago

Hey man im just about to get all my parts to water cool my system, was it worth going the hard line route? cause thats what i went i just hope its not to much trouble.

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 29 months ago

Hey. If you don't have any complicated bends then it should be fine. Use PETG since its more mistake friendly that Acrylic and make sure you order more tube than you need. Extenders and angle fittings will also help alot.

GriffinKet 1 point 29 months ago

Did you pull the camo sticker off the motherboard?

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 29 months ago

Did you mean on the IO side? Nope, the whole armor got several coats of Black PlastiDip.

GriffinKet 1 point 29 months ago

Oh, even better.

Draconem 1 point 29 months ago

Beautiful system!! It has definitely inspired me to go with hardline when I finally finish my latest build.

One small change I would make to the loop would be going for parallel on the GPUs as it reduces required head pressure (not that the D5 can't deal with it) and looks seriously good.

Is the coil wine on the MSI cards really audible over the rest of the system when taken to the max, because I might go for the kfa/Galax gtx 970s instead if that is the case.

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 28 months ago

Thanks! Yeah. I will actually change it to a parallel config when I do my yearly fluid flush.

YESSSS!!! The coil whine is annoying :3 i think its noticeable on all MSI 970's (i could be wrong), especially when i try to OC it to its max. I just have it at stock right now, which is more than enough for my 3-way 1080p. May need to OC them when i go to 1440p.

Can simply be fixed with a headphone though. hahaha

SpiralEye 1 point 27 months ago

Lovin the white LED's! This is an incredibly nice build. Great work.

MeatLoafman 1 point 20 months ago

8000$ SSD??? Really?

Haptismo 1 point 20 months ago

Good Build, i will choose white LED and it's me or the hdd wasn't fixed ?

Baileaf 1 point 17 months ago

Hows the colour holding up? Has it clogged up anything or dramatically changed colour? Im thinking of getting the same coolant but am worried that pastels will cause p[problems.

ichiriki submitter 5 Builds 1 point 16 months ago

Im actually doing a flush right now. The color did go a bit darker compared to before but not too bad. Im changing some of my tubing loop. Will update this thread soon.

ryan00oo8 1 point 7 months ago

so with all of those case fans where did they go are there some on the bottom ,top? cause i want to get that case but idk where the fans will go im thinking just getting like 2 or 3 fans???

lewdog 1 point 6 months ago

dose every thing in the list come with it and whats the GB ram/memory?
