Description

A few months ago, I helped my gf build her dream PC. We built it around the Corsair 250D, with a Red/Black/Silver theme. She uses it mostly for gaming and occasionally photo-editing on Adobe CC Lightroom and Photoshop (photography is her hobby). Most of the parts were purchased used from Reddit/r/hardwareswap.

Build Notes:

  • One hindrance we encountered was we had to flash the BIOS so that the Z87 chipset board will be compatible with the Haswell refresh 4690K

  • We are aware of the Samsung 840 EVO performance degradation. The 840 was my old SSD I purchased last year, before anyone knew of the slowdown problems. We updated the firmware and so far we have not experienced any problems.

This past week (2/01/16), she recently entered this build on an Instagram competition for SFF/ITX builds, hosted by @mitxlove. I figured it would be a great time to share with you all. Enjoy!

Why thank you sir! It means a lot to us! I'm slowly trying to get my gf into PC culture, and have successfully convinced her to enter this build on an Instagram competition!

What's your/her camera setup?

For these pics, we used the Fuji XT1 & (XE1 for backup) - with 18-55mm and 35mm 1.4. We also use the 56mm 1.2 for portraits.

Thanks! I'm also adding a sweet totally official award to you for this build because of your unfortunate timing on the featured build rotation.

Sweet! We appreciate it, thanks so much! It's no problem at all, haha. This was a long overdue post, and her recent contest submission made me think to myself, "Maybe I should post this on PCPartpicker.. "

LOL, Love that Super Official Award link though!

gawwwd. if i had the chance to go back and redo my pc, this would be what i would attempt to model it after.

Very nice build! I like those red cables. Super sharp looking. Building a box myself at the moment with the same case, H100i v2, and a 6700k. I've been scouring 250D +H100i builds on here to see how people were arranging their cables and especially the water cooler tubes. You positioned them perfectly. I've seen a few others do the reverse, facing the back (on the CPU) and the tubes just look odd/stressed in a way. I'll be modeling after what you did.

Hey nice build! I'm doing a similar build and I see you also have an Asus 980. Does the top panel closes with no problems?

  • 1 point

Top Panel can close without any problems. There's about less than 10mm of space in between the heatpipe and the top panel though.

  • 1 point

Alright thanks! I was kind of scare that I would have to trade my 980 for another model.

I've been wanting a 250D build myself. This is perhaps the cleanest build in a 250D I've seen on this site yet.

Well done!

cable extensions in a non windowed mini ITX case.... why?

  • 1 point

It does have a tiny window on top/rear panel. We wanted it to look pretty/match the color theme.

I mean it's a well built mini ITX machine, I just think adding extra bulk in an already cramped space is silly ;)
