Description

Mini-ITX Entry-Level Gaming Rig

This is my 6th build, Purity. (I'm addicted!). Designed to easily achieve 1080p Gaming at above 60fps on ultra settings. I also colour-schemed the build to be white/black, so that the aesthetics are a plus as well. This is my 6th PC build.

The building process went quite smoothly, with the only issues being the CPU cooler having no cover and therefore its pre-applied thermal paste was covered in dust (Had to wipe it off and use some of my EKWB thermal paste from a previous build). As it was my first time using sleeved cables i was quite surprised when they were a lot more stiff than I expected. The OS and all software installed with no errors whatsoever. I peeled off the cpu cooler's stickers to make it fit in with the build more.

I also tested the PC on 3DMark Firestrike, screenshots of the score are added to the images. The Custom SSD cover was lasercut out of 3mm acrylic at my school, and got it for free (Awesome teacher).

A final note; The name k1rby on the SSD Cover is not related to the pink Nintendo character, its a nickname.

Thanks for taking a look at my build!

Part Reviews

CPU

Amazing CPU for the price. This little dual core with hyper threading is perfect for budget skylake builds, and handles pretty much everything I've thrown at it. Worth Getting.

CPU Cooler

Good Cooler, Does its job. only slightly better than the stock intel one, but looks nicer. Only 3 stars because of packaging, I had to reapply my own thermal paste as it came full of dust. Mounting system isn't the best either.

Motherboard

Perfect budget itx mobo with a black - yes black pcb and not a horrible brown. USB 3.0 and good port placement means I'm happy.

Memory

Awesome RAM, WHITE LEDS OMG

It works, temperatures are good, get it

Storage

This thing is so fast - PC boots in under 17 seconds, great for my OS and a few games.

Storage

Does its job, reliable, works well.

Video Card

This card... wow. I OC'd this thing to 1400MHz easily, and it is a monster. Amazing backplate too!!!

Case

One of the best ITX cases out there... Phanteks never disappoint.

Cable management was awesome, and airflow is good too.

Power Supply

Very cheap psu with black cables - not ketchup and mustard!

Does its job very well in my ITX build.

Wireless Network Adapter

Does its job, obvs slower than ethernet but can play online games with it happily.

Case Fan

Nice fan, good accessories, hard to screw in but got there eventually.

Can happily say with this sat next to me that it's a really solid build, nice and fast and pretty quiet as well 10/10

Honestly sick to my stomach when I see another Phanteks ITX case because they seem to be everywhere, but I like your parts selection very much!!! You did an outstanding job with the color scheme and the CPU/GPU/PSU combination! Plus One!

cheers, its is one of the best itx cases out there.

The case looks like a storm trooper no matter what is done to it (nothing against storm troopers) and I guess I just prefer ITX cases under the 25L capacity where as this case is a mammoth [of an ITX case] at 34L! Just my opinion but nevertheless, good job on putting it all together!

What sort of CPU usage do you see during gaming? I've currently got a pentium g4400 and am considering getting an rx 470 or 480 so might want to get the same CPU if you find low/acceptable usage of CPU.

Z3DM4N submitter 6 Builds 1 point 23 months ago

well the GPU takes most of the stress off the CPU, but the g4400 should be fine tbh, a 480 could possibly be throttled by it but I wouldn't be sure. The 6100 handles stuff fine.

OK, thanks. Great build by the way.

Super nice build . Where did u also have a random 3 pin cable . I think it is for the fan but im not sure

Z3DM4N submitter 6 Builds 1 point 23 months ago

Cheers, what random 3 pin cable?

MasterShock 1 point 23 months ago

Is it the fan 3 pin cable

Z3DM4N submitter 6 Builds 1 point 23 months ago

I have 2 fans, is one not plugged in?

MasterShock 1 point 23 months ago

Im asking for my build cuz i have the same mobo and case the 200 mm in front

Z3DM4N submitter 6 Builds 1 point 23 months ago

I have a spare 3-pin fan to Molex adapter which I used for the extra exhaust fan as there are only 2 fan headers on the mobo including the cpu header.

Why would you use a i3 6100 with a rx 480. Thats a huge bottleneck. You might as well get a 6600 and get better frames on things like gta 5 and witcher 3. Just a recommendation if you want to upgrade.

Z3DM4N submitter 6 Builds 1 point 22 months ago

It will be upgraded in the future, to get a 6600 would have been too expensive. as its an extra £90

thecomgeek 1 Build 1 point 22 months ago

Where in the hell did u buy the ram. Ive been looking everywhere for them but never found them

Z3DM4N submitter 6 Builds 1 point 22 months ago

Avexir Core ram is really hard to find, OverclockersUK did them for me, they do all my watercooling mods there too. Shipping is expensive but its worth it for the ram :D

thecomgeek 1 Build 1 point 22 months ago

thank you, the build looks badass

Z3DM4N submitter 6 Builds 1 point 22 months ago

Cheers. I cant wait to see yours up here too xD

thecomgeek 1 Build 1 point 22 months ago

waiting 'til January for AMD Ryzen to come out, the ram was a gift for my bro

thecomgeek 1 Build 1 point 22 months ago

in all reality, i don't need zen for any particular reason

Aidan_haworth 1 point 22 months ago

Just watched a video of PC wars and thought I recognised a build, I went through all of my previous cpu cooler reviews to see if I could find it and I did. Nice job on the build. What made it easy to recognise your build was the custom tag, it's a nice touch of personality.

Z3DM4N submitter 6 Builds 1 point 22 months ago

Yeah, really cool its on there xD
