Build

Mr. Q's RGB Zebra

by Amnesiak

Description

This time I wanted to build a nice Ryzen beast. I chose to go with the Ryzen 1700 because it had much better bang for buck compared to the 1700x in my opinion. However right now, the 1700x is only 5 dollars more than the 1700 and if I was to rebuild, I'd go for the 1700x.

I went with the NZXT Elite Case because I I think it's the best looking out there. It's simple, clear, sharp lines, and had everything I needed in the right places, including cut outs for my stat screen, (Tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcNJA6V4tNY&t=2s ) - I also chose the case because it had an HDMI port at the front which was great for my VR headeset.

Since it had a tempered glass window, I couldn't let the graphics card face down. So I did some slight mods in order to get the graphics card to sit vertically. (Tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnNl1lhFbzQ&lc=z222fxkaim2shjr0macdp434q3fcunssdt41ch0s1plw03c010c )

Of course the whole build was planned using PCPartPicker. I'm mentioning this to just lend support to the fact that this site is trust worthy. With every build I've done, I've used PCPP and I'm super happy.

Let me know what you guys think :)

I've never seen that digital display before. Where did you get that?

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 2 points 14 months ago

first link :)

Nwr0110 2 points 14 months ago

I'm a noob at this so how do you measure the temp/stats in your pc. In your video you just plugged the screen in but you didn't show how the stats were measured. What do you do to measure the temp

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

I did. In the video I showed that you launch CAM. CAM is software that monitors the stats. You can use any monitoring solution.

frostmaster468 1 point 14 months ago

I like the color scheme

Velocitron2000 1 point 14 months ago

Awesome looking build, well thought out parts too.

IHaveNoLife 1 point 14 months ago

In my opinion, the perfect build. It has well chosen parts, power, looks and a touch of customization. +1

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

thank you!

Dope build!

valrykie 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

beautiful!

dminer78 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

What speed are you running your memory at? I've been wanting to get a similar setup but I wasn't sure how well Ryzen would overclock with 4 dimms of ram.

Love the build! The vertical gpu looks way better then horizontal

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 2 points 14 months ago

Currently around 3000mhz

Nwr0110 1 point 14 months ago

What do you think the best temp/ stat monitoring software is. Also what do you do besides just downloading the software. How does it sense what temp it is. Srry I suck at this...

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

I think they're all good. I use CAM because I like the layout and color customization. It detects it based on what's connected to the motherboard.

CaptainQwaz 1 point 14 months ago

beautiful build man

soup07 1 point 14 months ago

Commenting so I can find this easier later; great build!

yojroz 1 point 14 months ago

Great build! I've wanted this case for my upcoming build, but was concerned about the size and lack of spots for fans. But your temps seem good. Any regrets on this case for cooling? I assume the Kraken is bringing air in and the top and rear fans are pushing out? Are they both 140s?

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

yup that's right. Except the rear is 120.

hoanga515 1 point 14 months ago

Hi I came here after seeing your tutorial video on Youtube. Beautiful build! Only question is what did you end up doing to take care of the blue border around the lcd screen? It looks white and clean in the pictures

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

I put an acrylic frame

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

I added a white acrylic frame :)

imulsion 1 point 14 months ago

Are both NZXT case fans outtake ?

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 2 points 14 months ago

exhausting yes

imulsion 1 point 14 months ago

I will soon build a pc quite similar, and I am wondering if it would be better or not to set the top fan as intake.

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

So far I'm getting great temps. If you're using liquid cooling then I doubt you would need intake.

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

Yup

Cubanmessiah 1 point 14 months ago

Did you do any over clocking ? Also how well would this case do if I were to do hard tube water cooling? Great build thanks for your time.

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

You could easily do it. There are loads of example pics of how people did it online.

you8myrice 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

JukeFactory 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

do i need a MICRO ATX to make the vertical GPU fit?

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 1 point 10 months ago

Nope. Any board will work.

Frostbite11 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

Awesome build, ive watched the video but there's nothing about the little white cover around the mini screen so how did you get that

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 1 point 10 months ago

I bought the frame off of amazon.

ndivenyi 1 point 13 months ago

Wallpaper link? Great build btw.

rashadd26 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

want to know what is that mounted under the gpu? (im a noob also)

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 1 point 10 months ago

That’s the RGB controller

rashadd26 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

yeah I figured that out but thnx for reply. Also my build was inspired by yours as I too wanted to do a vertical mount for my gpu but could not find the part so I just did it regular and still happy with result.

BodiXDDD 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

Ram at native speed?

DOGALD 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

i love your build and you channel! +1

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 1 point 10 months ago

Thank you !

ledzepan 1 point 11 months ago

First let me say I love your build. Next, well I'm a little late to the party but I hope you'll see this cause I'm building a rig with the same mobo and I was wondering how you were able to coordinate all the RGB stuff? I was afraid it's be impossible without more RGB headers on the mobo. Sorry if these are dumb questions, I'm a noob.

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 2 points 10 months ago

I used a USB hub :) - as for adjusting lighting. It was all software based.

ledzepan 1 point 10 months ago

Thanks for the reply!

timfy 1 point 11 months ago

very awesome build. do you have a link of the black riser cable not the cooler master one. tyvm! peace!

You can get one HERE.

timfy 1 point 10 months ago

oh yeah bills shop! tnx man! ty peace

TheAdversary 1 point 9 months ago

Did you buy the case for the stat screen or did you make it yourself? And how did you mount the screen to the PC case?

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

It was available online. The case is just standing on the bottom of the case and has some double sided tape on the back

Scout1138 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Fantastic build, thank you for the tutorials!

Amnesiak submitter 2 Builds 2 points 7 months ago

thanks for the support :)

AlexDMV 1 point 8 months ago

Wow. The stat screen is so interesting. Nice build! I am deciding between the NZXT Aer RGB fan and the Corasir LL fan. The NZXT fan is wayyy cheaper than the Corsair fan, but in my opinion the corsair fan looks sick. I was going through builds using the NZXT fans and this build was an awesome discovery! Good job.

TarikDurak 1 point 7 months ago

Is it possible do build this without the NZXT Hub? I have a msi Krait 3X Motherboard and also intend on getting 2 x aer fans and the kraken.

Binki 1 point 1 month ago

I have a question. How were you able to extend the display into the 7 inch screen? I have similar device, but only 5inch small, but I could not extend an opened window into the 5 inch screen. The way you moved the stats display into the 7 inch screen on the video. All I get is copy image of the computer screen. Is there a driver that I'm missing. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

AC1DFOX 5 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

Possible to use the stat display with any other software than the horrendous CAM Software?
