Description

Bought most of these parts around Black Friday and whenever I saw a great deal. My last build just sold the other day so I finally ordered the GPU and put this beauty together. Wanted to stick with a black and white theme while maintaining a pretty solid budget.

CPU: Got a steal and a half on this. Base price for the 8320 was $129 and the WD 1TB Caviar Blue was $70. Combo'd together took $17 off so the HDD came out to $53.

COOLER: Used in my last build as well. Does a great job at cooling but this particular one has a bit louder pump than my last. Stock fans are great for cooling but garbage in terms of sounds. Luckily the R4's front panel blocks out a lot of it though. In case anybody was wondering the bottom HDD cage when shifted over can fit a thick rad and fans. I just decided to take it out and put the HDD in the 5.25" drive bay using an adapter to improve airflow.

MOBO: One word: SEXY! I know looks shouldn't be all you go for in a mobo but this thing is just sleek. All black pcb looks awesome in person. Just an FYI to anyone that buys this board in the future make sure to check which revision your board is when you try to find out what the newest bios version. My board was revision 4.0 and Bios version F2. Looking at Gigabytes page for this mobo I thought the lastest bios version was 10a so I tried to Flash my bios with no success. Long story short make sure that you click on the right revision number on Gigabyte's page for this mobo when checking for bios updates.

RAM: Got for a steal. Looks sexy and is 1866 @ CL 9.

HDD: Stores stuff and isn't too slow.

GPU: Would have loved to put another XFX 280x in here to match perfectly but they are $400 right now =(. Got this 770 with the 3 free games bundled and it matches the color scheme from the side. Performance is pretty solid for the price.

CASE: Absolutely in love with this thing. Added an extra 140mm fan I had leftover from the Arc Midi I used last so I threw it in there for a bit better airflow.

PSU: Tier 2 Semi Modular PSU at an insane price. Looks great and cables are plenty long.

...still haven't found Waldo. Don't worry. Neither could I.

EDIT: Forgot to mention matching white monitor on its way thanks to RyneSmith!

I'd be able to find Waldo before finding deals like this... great computer for the price! Nice color scheme and part choice as well.

Haha took lots of patience and checking http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/ as well as price drops on this site every 5 minutes of my life. I considered linking a rick rolled video but decided that would be taking it a bit too far lol.

I do not browse reddit, but that is a great thread for deal checking. Thank you for posting it!

Great build, and great cable management. And those deals are amazing! (especially impressed with the price for the cooler) Impressed.

Thanks! The cooler has constantly been going on sale for right around $60 on Newegg. Not sure why more people don't buy it. From what I've seen it cools better than the H100i.

Nice build. I'm loving the R9 case. Looks great and I found it easy to work with. Can you take a picture of the backside? I'd like to see how you handled the cables.

Also, if you have some cash, I'd put it towards SSD and wait for LED. Huge improvement on computer speed.

Sure thing. I do agree an SSD would be a nice touch but I just plan on selling this build anyways and in my area SSDs add like nothing to the value. Kind of a shame =(. My cable management isn't the greatest behind the mobo tray. Taking out the HDD bays gave me less room to hide cables as well.

That's a bummer. Well then, your logic is sound.

Thanks bud. Looks a little hectic, but it's tough to organize much better. What I did on mine is use two of the cable ties that came with the case to fix a main "artery" down. Check it out. But if you're selling may not be worth it.

Looks great! Mine looked good until I had to hide molex and sata power connectors then it all went to heck.

Waldo got fed to the pigs a good while ago. Honestly, witness protection needs to dress their charges a little less conspicuously...

Seriously considering white LEDs. Will definitely update the build if I end up getting some.
