This is a re-build/upgrade of my original rig. I built my first PC in December 2015. It had a MSI Z170A Gaming M5 Motherboard, an Intel i5-6600k, with a Corsair H60 cooler, and a Radeon R9 390. For this re-build/upgrade, I used the same case, PSU, and Storage, but upgraded the CPU, MOBO, RAM, GPU, and CPU cooler. Most of the parts for the upgrade were actually bought in store at Best Buy (got the GPU earlier on Newegg), because I had been thinking about upgrading and planning a parts list for so long that I couldn't wait any longer and just ran out to the store to buy parts. I was not originally planning on doing any RGB but that's what they had at the store, and I actually think it turned out looking great. I'm pleasantly surprised how much I like RGB IRL as opposed to just seeing it in photos and videos online. I definitely do not need 32GB of RAM but they only had 16GB kits in stock and I really like the look of having all 4 DIMM slots filled. The Corsair H100i is a great cooler so far, CPU doesn't even come close to getting too hot under load or in games. My monitor is a 60hz 4K Samsung, so I game locked at 60FPS in 4k resolution and it is beautiful. I've had a bit of a red/black color scheme going since the original build and it just so happens that the new MOBO also has a (slightly more understated) red/black thing going, so I got some red/black PSU cables from Cable Mod to finish it off. Initially, I was very worried about swapping out the CPU, MOBO, and RAM all at once, worried that I may have to do a clean install of windows, but it just ended up working. I had a pre-built as a Teenager that had Windows 7 on it that I used for the free Windows 10 upgrade when I originally built the PC, so all I had to do was find that Win 7 product key and I was back up and running. I'm real proud of myself as this is really only my second build, and I'm super happy with the performance boost the new hardware brings. Let me know what you all think.
