"You will always get a better deal when building your own PC instead of buying one from the store."
"Once you play games on ultra settings with 100+FPS, you will never go back."
"I can make any budget work."
"It's an investment and well worth the initial cost."
"Join the PCMR!"
"It's a great time to build a computer. Nvidia and AMD just released new cards and when both of them compete, the consumer ultimately wins."
At least one of the above sentences come out of my mouth on a daily basis. In fact, it seems as though my latest builds have all been from friends asking me to build them a gaming PC. Could it be my silver tongue? Am I guilty for slipping subtle cues into their subconscious? Maybe, BUT, all of those sentences are true so no harm no foul. Well, the last sentence is only half true since the prices are inflated for most of the new cards. Jeez! Can we please get past this and lower the MSRP to the appropriate amount now?
My friend Edgar wanted an awesome black and red gaming rig and I gladly took him under my wing. This time, instead of building it for him, I asked if he wanted to build it himself while I walked him through the steps. He was happy with that suggestion and immediately forked over $600. A week later, he handed me the remaining $1000 and we ordered the parts on Thursday and started building Friday after work. How did we get our parts that fast? One word - Newegg. I love living next to a Newegg will call pickup center. It makes it possible to order your parts one day and start building the day after. Since Edgar wanted to build it himself, the photo log doesn't match my normal style. Instead of isolated parts in my usual pattern, I just snapped pics while he went to work. (I love sharing the joy of building your own PC with friends.)
The SSD is mounted backwards in a few of these picture. I let him make the mistake so that he could learn and fix it aftwerwards.
60 Second time lapse and IG account can be found HERE. My dog seriously has FOMO.
Sleeved cable extensions were purchased at newegg for $30! These are excellent quality and priced fair. I think they really make this build stand out.
Thanks for helping make it all possible PCPP!
