Description

This is a minor upgrade of my recent completed build.

See here: http://pcpartpicker.com/b/YDGfrH

I wanted to repost because I finally consider this build finished (at least that's what I tell myself at night time). I got my hands on an MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X yesterday and put that bad boy to work.

I put up some pictures of both the new one and also a comparison shot against the old 980 ti version. Looks almost identical save for a few details here and there.

I'm going to either sell the 980 ti to a friend or throw it up on ebay to recoup some of my costs. I almost didn't go with MSI because they priced theirs higher than the founder's edition which I think is ridiculous but the design of the card and it's cooling system eventually won me over.

I got mine from Micro Center on Friday. They just got them in stock. Also I noticed Newegg started selling them on Thursday but you need to be super quicksilver McMouse Clicker to grab one as they sell out pretty quick.

Simply Gorgeous! I am in the middle of buying parts for my build and looks like I am too slow. this is nearly exactly what I am trying to build. I have always thought that water cooling looked so bad ***. Think you could help a newbie such as myself and point me in the direction of where to buy that? Also what was the reasoning behind the choice to mount as you did. I haven't seen one mounted like that before. sorry to be such a noob but I have always wanted to build a pc and I don't wanna f*** anything up. Here is my part list so you can see how identical my build is. Also if you see a part that I am just retarded for buying please let me know http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Rockhound1024/saved/q3xXsY

How did you manage to install so man PWM fans on your mobo ? I presume your mobo has lots of pins for PWM fans? Also how do you control PWM fans?

The Noctua fans I used in a previous build all came with fan splitters. So I have a set of 2 fans going to one pwm header on the mobo. My mobo supports 4 pwm connections, so if I want I can connect up to 8 fans with my setup.

Noctua fanzzzzzzzzzz! Lol but you could have gotten 2 corsair fans for 1$ less.

Can't argue with that

They wouldn't go as good with this build though. When you're already spending $2500+ on everything else what is an extra $75 on fans.

Wait...you know I am talking about these fans, right? : https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Jc8Zxr/corsair-case-fan-co9050008ww

Yeah, those Corsair fans also aren't PWM which kills the value for me.

I definitely prefer to have as much control of a fan as possible. I prefer to have more fans at low RPM's to keep a quieter system. I have 13 fans in my system and it's inaudible. My friend used a similar case with those exact fans and it was far louder.
