Description

This is my pc I built a few weeks ago and decided to post a few pictures of it here. 'Twas my first ever pc I've ever built and it was pretty fun aside from after building it wondering why it wasn't posting on my monitor. On Valentine's day I checked to see if all the cables were connected and lo and behold the hdmi cable was disconnected lol. Soon after I fixed the issue and have been enjoying my new pc. I have run into one issue with the cpu running high into the upper 70s, but that is only in.....CS:GO. It kinda freaks me out so I'll be swapping the air cooler for a friends to see if temps will drop.

3/28/2017 UPDATE:Swapped out cpu cooler for an x62 and temps never go above 55 now. 11/18/2017 UPDATE: Walked out of the shower to hearing my pc's fans on full blast, check cpu temps and they were sitting at 98°C.(X62 pump died). Think I'll stick with air coolers from now on. Temps are better than what they originally were in February, most likely due to adding a little more thermal paste. Looking forward to seeing what changes I do to this build next year.

Part Reviews

CPU

Pretty cool seeing how fast and these things have gotten(I was coming from a pentium e5300)

CPU Cooler

Whisper quiet compared to the the rest of my rig's fans and looks pretty nice. Was pretty annoying to install into my case though.

Motherboard

Awesome aesthetics.

Memory

Easy to get up to speed and look clean.

Storage

Decided to go ssd only and gaze in awe of the loading speeds.

Video Card

Looks pretty sweet and I can never hear the fans while gaming.

Case Fan

It's awesome hearing these things just blow cool air through my rig occasionally.

Why 2 different coolers in part list?

I originally had the cryorig H5 installed but I was getting high temps/disliked the appearance of it so I bought another cooler.

Have you checked the thermal paste on the CPU?

Banthare submitter 1 Build 0 points 24 months ago

I did, I reapplied it with a pea of arctic silver 5 and idles a few degrees cooler but still hits the 80s sometimes in cs:go. I tried im other games such as Doom and Witcher 3 but those games would sit in the 50s-60s. It's strange.

Did you solve that? I'm reading that the silicon lottery on the 7700k is brutal and more builders end up deliding and using liquid metal.

Banthare submitter 1 Build 2 points 18 months ago

Yep! Swapped the cryorig cpu for a Kraken x62, lowered the voltage on the motherboard to 1.25 and temps never go above 75 now!

Hey, would you mind elaborating on the annoyances you had with the Taichi board? I'm about to pull the trigger on it, and would love to know if there is any last minute red flags.

Depending on what cpu cooler you purchase it may get a little annoying. For myself, I'm fairly tall and have large hands and forgot to install my fans until after installing my cpu cooler. So basically I spent a few extra minutes struggling to fit my hands under the cooler where most of the fan headers are located. It's still an awesome looking motherboard though.

You can find a diagram of the motherboard on asrock's site where you can get a pdf of the manual.

Did you lose the first ram slot because of the fan? And did you have to adjust the height of fan? I'm thinking about getting the same fan with same case, and just wondering if there was any hiccups with installing it in with ram slots filled.

Also Nice Build!

Yes you will lose the first ram slot completely and no. You'll have no problem installing it but positioning it may get annoying if you're at a bad angle.

How good is the wifi on the ASRock Z270 TAICH

Banthare submitter 1 Build 0 points 23 months ago

It's pretty good. I have better ping in game compared to my ethernet cable but the download speeds are worse than the ethernet.

Mr.Jackson 1 point 23 months ago

O ok I was thinking about getting that motherboard so it's a overall solid motherboard
