Built for Gaming

Salvaged the i7 out of a HP thing,

Then grabbed everything else slowly .

Overclocked the i7 to the max of 4.2 ghz for this locked cpu

Overclocked the ram to 1600 MHZ

Latest additions are the Coolermaster PSU and the Gigabyte R9 280,,,,Had to buy the Deepcool (I mean Shaw sorry shaw isn't listed ) case just to fit it :P it is surprisingly good to build in for a $29.00 case.

The R9 is currently @ 1100 core 1350 memory can go higher but it runs everything nicely now.

Plays most games on high to ultra .

GTAV @ 60 fps on Ultra

The Witcher 3 @ 50 fps on high settings Hair works off.

Guildwars 2 @ 96 fps on highest settings

Fallout 3 @ 60 fps on highest settings

Both overclocks seem stable CPU gets to max of 65 degrees after a couple of hours of GTA or The Witcher ,GPU around 65 degrees

Pretty happy with it just wish I had a k model cpu.

The total cost was over about a year.

Salvaged CPU HDD and DVD writer from old hp .

Part Reviews

Really solid performance especially with the minimal overclock I have got on it of 4.2 ghz

CPU Cooler

Great little cooler for the price ,not as effective as it's bigger brother but does the job and keeps my overclocked i7 under 65° under load.

Good build quality and good for overclocks, haven't had a single problem with it.

Video Card

Great performance for it's price I got it for $199.00 @ Centre Com in the Queens birthday special.

Plays all of my games on high or ultra and overclocks really well.

My first AMD and im very happy with it.

Love this card

Power Supply

So far so good, powers my overclocked i7 @4.2 ghz and my overclocked R9 280 @ 1100/1350

Semi modular helps a bit with cable management.

Operating System

Does it's job and an improvement on win8

Case Fan

They work and are fairly quiet

My first good qualiyh monitor looks great no problems

Hey man I really like this build and its a beast for the price. One thing is the cable management which I would generally recommend tidying away but otherwise great build +1

I'm going to revisit the cables when I get some Velcro straps ,they are a bit stiff as well and I didn't want to damage them :)

Hi, I pulled the same CPU out of an Asus Essentio since the mobo went out, seems like it still expensive in the market but I'd like to know how it performs, in my case it would be used for gaming with a gtx 550ti.

+1 on your build tho ;)

It is a pretty solid peformer.

I have it at 4.2 now but even before that it is a strong performer.

I currently play BF4 @ 60 plus fps on ultra , GTA5 @ 60 fps on ultra and The Witcher 3 up to 55 fps on high ,That's paired with a r9 280 .

Your mileage may vary you could google gtx 550ti vs r9 280 for an idea .

Overclock would depend on tbe motherboard, mine allows up to 4.2 but only with classic bios I tried uefi but it would oc at all so I rolled back.

I think I can get it higher but I would have to mess with the blclk ,which I read could cause stability issues.,The mb allowed me to turn the multiplier up to 42 .

I hear you about he cables
