Description

GF's ageing laptop and desktop kicked the bucket around the same time, so built this from holiday sales for Christmas. Wanted to do a colorful unicorn theme. Kind of a pain to match parts, but white ram isn't too hard to find, UpSleeve made perfect cables for the theme, and simple things like the blue anodized thumbscrews help pull things together.

Took the case apart and used rustoleum glitter spray to paint anything that wasn't pink. Covered the PSU in stickers then xacto'd out the vent holes. Could prob do more with the black HSF and GPU shrouding but ran out of time.

Great little case, though a bit of a pain to cable manage (especially since I added extensions). Also not easy with a larger HSF if you forget to plug something in or want to change something down the line, pretty much have to disassemble the panels to get access to anything after installing parts. Small footprint though and has a really nice finish, looks great when completed.

As mentioned in the other Metis Plus builds, a larger graphics card easily fits with an SFX PSU.

Replaced the side panel with plexiglass. Was worried about temps with no fans, but temps were fine while stress testing. Not really room up top with the bigger graphics card, and the 120mm on the back was literally right against the wraith prism. CPU area would prob be ok if using a truly slim HSF.

Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0 (1440 high) - 75.6 FPS, score 1905

Impressive little value build, you're probably going to need some more storage at some point but you've made some pretty smart decisions so far. Have fun!

Thanks. I had backup drives in her prior computer and she barely used any space. The 500gb might fill up if she decides to take up gaming AAA titles all of a sudden, but I'm guessing she'll stay comfortably under 100-150gb for the duration.

The case came with an HDD bracket which I just decided to leave out to have more room; it can be seen in the blue paint picture. I'll throw it back in if/when needed. Nice to have the flexibility.

Yeah, if that's her usage it sounds like it's not worth worrying about.
