Description

This is my first gaming computer! it cost a ton of money but I would say it was money well spent, The reason i say this is my first actual gaming PC is because 2 years ago i bought a "Fast gaming laptop" for $550, Needless to say it was one of the slowest computers i have ever witnessed, It had a AMD A8 3520M Clocked at 1.6Ghz, Pathetic right! So i was stuck with that turd for 2 years before i got this thing, And boy this is an improvement, I've only had this for a day so i can't say much about it but so far it runs The Forest, DayZ And Space engineers greatly at a stable 50-60+ FPS On all of them. All of the parts were selected by me but i had the guys down at Leon's computer shop do basically all of the assembling & Driver installations etc. I've learned a lot from watching them assemble my PC, and I've probably learned enough to be able to assemble a computer on my own now.

CPU: $140, Hexacore, Has all the power i need to play games.

CPU Cooler: Arrived DOA, Made out of cheap aluminum, Not much else to say, DO NOT BUY.

Motherboard: It is pretty cheap compared to most Intel boards and it has a nice I/O Port, I recommend it.

RAM: G.Skill quality, Matches the color scheme (Black and blue), And i got an extra 8Gbs free of charge! (thanks grandpa)

Storage: 840 EVO Boots insanely fast and is surprisingly smaller in person. WD BLACK is just your average 1tb platter HDD, It works fine.

Case: recommended by Tyler, Its spacey, Well made & has great airflow and cable management.

GPU: Got it on sale for 209.99, MSI Screwed me over, Lost the rebate, Other then that this card has the power of a 770 with the price of a 760, Definitely a good buy, And i got 3 free games!.

PSU: Love that its semi modular, Great PSU.

Monitor: Its overall a good monitor but, I don't know if its a driver problem or what, but my screen is cropped by like 7% and i haven't been able to fix it yet, But other then that i like it.

Keyboard: I like it, It has many hotkey options.

EDIT: I enabled AMD Overscan and the cropping issue is fixed now.

Regarding the screen issue, either check the menu on the actual monitor to stretch the screen or use the GPU application to see if there is an option to stretch the screen as well. Other than that looking really good :)

Agreed. It's an issue with the CCC (Catalyst Control Center). I've had it where there is a 1 inch boarder all the way around. There is some option in there that I had to check (or un-check) and resolved that issue.

nice build. Any reason for the 16GB of RAM? Still a very solid and well balanced build though. +1

The reason i got 16 is because my grandpa who was into PC's in the 80-90's gave me $100 so i could buy 16 gigs instead of 8 without going overbudget.

Turn off overscan in AMD Catalyst Control Center, maybe?

For the screen, set a custom resolution in AMD catalyst. I'm not sure how you do it on AMD being an Nvidia card user, but I do know for a fact it is possible. Maybe not threw catalyst but it is possible. Also don't tell people to not buy a specific cpu cooler since it was DOA. DOA's happen to all computer parts and you just got unlucky with that one. It's kind of unfair to CM because the rate on those being DOA is really small :/ but good build +1

It's easy to say a little more here and there, but I definitely would have bought the FX-8350 instead.

You should have got 8gb of RAM and spent the money on an AMD 8 core

why is the total so high?

Maybe because that's what the numbers add up to? That's quite a strange thing to happen though, the total equaling the sum of the individual parts... Well, I guess some strange phenomena just seem to happen at the weirdest times. (Including me replying to this post which was 4 months ago...)

Actually, I am 14 years old as of know, And i am a brony, Which means i watch my little pony, It's a common misconception that MLP is for little girls because back in the 80's and early 2000's it was a "6 year old girl show", But in the newest generation of MLP The creative director of the new show Lauren Faust scrapped the old shows ideals and created a new show intended for ALL ages.
