Description

So for the past 2 years ive been gaming on an 11 inch macbook air with an i5 clocked at 1.7 ghz and 4 gb of ddr3 ram. It was good for running games like League, Minecraft, and CS:GO. As my birthday rolled around I decided to get myself a PC. It had to have 2 things; Be under $350, and be able to Rec my Xbox One. I bought an HP Compaq 6200 that had an i3 2100 clocked at 3.1 ghz, as well as having a WD Blue 250GB hard drive with windows 7 installed. It had 4GB of ram that I basically just threw out, lol. I went to my local Micro Center and picked up a cheap mobo, RAM, Case, and CPU cooler. I bought the graphics card on Ebay second hand for $70, which was an absolute steal. Overall after having this pc for around 2 weeks now I am very happy with it and havent used my Xbox One except for 1 or 2 Races. Overall I am very happy with this build and would recommend this to anyone starting out or wanting a budget PC/Console Killer.

Welcome to the PCMR. You can now put that mac in its proper place on a desk, as a mouse pad. :P

The only think macs are good for is scrubbing through footage at 4k or renders if you make a hackintosh tbh

I will agree with that. Reluctantly. It will still be a mouse pad in my house. :P

Nice build, im doing the same thing as you however i dont have enough money for a 750 ti so im gonna get a gtx 650 1gb... its not as good but oh well i dunno what other gpu to get, the 650 1gb is £55 with £7.50 delivery on amazon. Its a shame since the 750 ti is a very good mid range card.

That moment when your PC can achieve a higher framerate at 1080p than a console..... for less.

I'll let you in on a little secret: consoles don't run games at 1080p.

i3 2100 is a nice Sandy Brige CPU for general purpose, mine is going for retirement after almost 5 years o great service, but for what I need it I think is a great CPU with enough power, It's a shame that I can't buy a new mobo with SATA3 and USB 3.0 for it : ( Except for hard core gamers, and profesional audio, rendering or video editing anything more than i3 is waste of money.

why did you buy almost the same cpu cooler that comes with the i3? if you were to buy a "Upgraded" cpu cooler buy a hyper t2 or a hyper 212 evo xD not that thing, that's the same as the stock cooler.

it was $3 at micro center, i forgot to change it. the cpu cooler that came with the system was a passive cooler that wouldnt have been able to handle gaming
