Description

After 4 years of using an old Intel i5-6500 system, I decided to upgrade to 3rd gen Ryzen. I kept some components of my old build (case, graphics card, PSU, hard drive, SATA SSD, monitors and peripherals) and so I only bought the CPU, motherboard, CPU cooler, memory and NVMe SSD. I live in Australia and the parts that I got were on sale so they are actually cheaper than what they are listed here.

So far, the PC has exceeded my expectations! I mainly use it for gaming and University work (MATLAB and machine learning) and it has performed really well.

The only problem that I am having are the high idle temps (40 degrees) when compared to my old Intel build (28 degrees). Also, my fans randomly ramp up during idle. I think this is due to the fact that the CPU will boost to the boost clock randomly during idle. If anyone knows how to fix that, please let me know in the comments :)

Yea probably a good idea, the CPU temps on iCUE are actually 10 degrees less than Ryzen master.
