Description

Just updated my older AMD system with a few components I took out of another PC.

I have the ASRock AM2+ motherboard running with an AM3 CPU. I had to do a BIOS update to make it run.

As you can see, it used the older style DDR2 RAM. Not worth adding 2 more sticks to it, as it now costs $69.

The SSD sure made quite a speed improvement from the old 250 GB HDD that was originally the boot drive.

Video card is nothing to write home about, but is good enough for web surfing and playing videos.

Considering how outdated the MB, CPU, and RAM are, it boots up in just 31 seconds!

The W.E.I. is: 7.3 - 7.3 - 6.7 - 6.7 - 7.7

Agreed!

That's very neat, especially for only a semi modular PSU!

That's a +1 from me.

Semi-Modular PSUs offer some pretty damn great cable management to be honest. I have a semi modular PSU and I got really good cable management (feel free to check), it's only really tough to get good cable management when you have a non-modular power supply.

Your build looks fantastic in that Fractal Design Define R4 case. Lots of good picks, too. +1

Yes I agree.

(You do have some great cable management)

This build just struck me as looking almost like he used a fully modular PSU.

Semi-Modular power supplies do wonderful things in the right hands :p

Thank you! It's well worth spending an extra $10 or so and getting a semi-modular power supply. Not only you get a cleaner look, but better airflow plus it's a big time saver not having to hide and tie wrap all of those extra cables.

That was the going price of those 2 years ago. Now you can get a 128 GB SSD for even less.
