First time build! Go easy on me... All these parts were gathered within 3-4 months since I was not in a rush, wanted to get the best deals possible. Will add more pictures of inside components this weekend along with stress test on the CPU and GPU. Definitely overkill... but hopefully it'll last me quite a while.

CPU - i7 4930k; I choose this processor because I was patiently waiting on Intel Retail Edge, managed to scoop this up for nearly the price of an i5 4670k. I had to wait two weeks to receive it but totally worth.

CPU Cooler - H100i; I choose this CPU cooler mainly because I wanted to keep the CPU as cool as possible. Might replace the fans though, even with corsair link the fans are pretty loud.

Motherboard - Sabertooth X79; I choose this mobo because of the great reviews on it; 5 year warranty is a plus.

Memory - Vengeance 16gb 1866; Reviews were good, however I purchased this when the price of ram was quite high.

Storage - 840 evo 500gb/Seagate 1TB 7200; I originally purchased a 250gb evo however the 500gb went on sale so I returned it. 1tb HDD for extra storage.

Video Card - EVGA 760 4gb; I kinda regret going for the 760 4gb rather than the 770 2gb. They were the same price but I did not know much about video cards, should have done more research.

Case - H440; I definitely wanted a case with a window, was going to get the R4 however after I found out about this case I changed my mind. Went through a lot to get this case... This case was very cable management friendly, with me being a first time builder this case definitely helped me with cable management. Only thing I dislike about it would be the terrible glare from the monitors.

PSU - HX850; I originally wanted the AX860 however this went on sale for $120 and I decided to pick it up instead.

Monitors - VN248H-P; they were nice looking monitors, Originally bought just one because they were going for $135 after rebate, decided to get a second however the price increased to $150 for the second one. Definitely recommend these monitors they look gorgeous. I also purchased a dual monitor stand to keep my desk a bit more organized.

Keyboard - Razer Blackwidow Ult 2014; I wanted a mechanical keyboard and already had the Taipan, so I decided to buy it to match with it as well. Keyboard works great.

Mouse - Razer Taipan; I like the feel of it in my hand, originally wanted the naga however the taipan seemed more reasonable.

Headphones - G430; It was on sale, needed a headset works like a champ.

Speakers - Z506; Had these for two years, they still work well

LED - NZXT Sleeved LED kit 1m white; wanted a nice clean white look to show off the components, choose this one because of the ability to turn on and off.

takes picture of i7 while driving xD

Great build. I recommend getting two more sticks of ram because X79 is made for quad channel ram. And a top of the line processor with only a 760? I would've went with the 770 like you said.

Still more than I could ever afford :P love the h440

Axxents 4 points 41 months ago

Holy balls this is nice. :D How long did it take to build it when you got all the parts together? What kind of desk? Looks really nice, right choice of monitors, desk, keyboard, and case.

asianboiwill submitter 1 Build 2 points 41 months ago

Took me a while because I wanted to handle as much cable management as I could. Not to mention with it being my first time I was being extra cautious. As far as the desk I got it for $100 at office depot.

Next aesthetic upgrade should be getting another 2 dimms worth of memory. Now your ram sticks just look lonely :D

asianboiwill submitter 1 Build 1 point 41 months ago

I was thinking some nicely sleeved cables, I think 16gb is good for now..

MrKickkiller 1 point 41 months ago

Yea, but don't you think the ram sticks are looking a bit lonely...? Sleeved cables could do an amazing job aswell, but I (personally) would get some extra ram (for aesthetic reasons). It wouldn't get it for the capacity but for the looks.

  • I have not build anything on a X79 motherboard, but this seems like an odd place for dual channel memory to be put (2nd slot away from socket). Did you use the manual to determine it's position or did you just put them in?

  • Your board supports Quad-channel memory. It is not like in Z87 boards where it's dual-channel. Maybe the extra ram sticks I recommend will boost your overall performance.

asianboiwill submitter 1 Build 1 point 41 months ago

yeah, manual recommended those slots. I'd admit, they look lonely but I'll give it some time before ram upgrade since performance is superb at the moment. was originally going to get 4x4 ram but decided 2x8 would be better just in-case in the future if I ever wanted to utilized the full 64gb.

MrKickkiller 2 points 41 months ago

No problem man. I just made some visual recommendations and perhaps pointed out a single flaw in your design

asianboiwill submitter 1 Build 1 point 41 months ago

Definitely appreciate it aswell.

dbdev 1 Build 3 points 41 months ago

Awesome build +2

Many of the same components, look and feel that I'm currently upgrading with.

istealunderwear 9 Builds 2 points 41 months ago

Nice price on that cpu, how did you get that nice of a price?

JasonUK 12 Builds 2 points 41 months ago

I choose this processor because I was patiently waiting on Intel Retail Edge

MylesRawr 2 Builds 2 points 41 months ago

Very nice looking build - good job. Certainly is overkill (depending what it's used for) but will last a while.

Edit: more pics please! :)

pegotico 2 Builds 2 points 41 months ago

the H440 has to be one of the nicest case out there!!! +1

bcpetkovich 2 points 41 months ago

This setup looks very similer to mine except I only have one moniter :( great job by the way!

Radioface 2 points 40 months ago

can i borrow your computer forever

GamerDeso 1 point 41 months ago

Actually, IIRC, 4GB of VRAM may do you a big favor in the long run. It's a good buy if you ask me.

MylesRawr 2 Builds 1 point 41 months ago

I agree, quite future proof for physics heavy games right?

GamerDeso 1 point 41 months ago

Well, it isn't particularly powerful if you are after frame rates that never go below 20 on max settings on newer games or intensive games once you go beyond 1920x1080 on a single screen and going for 2050x1560 or 2560x1440/1600 or to 4K resolution, it may cause some trouble. A single 780 non Ti is barely strong enough to run Battlefield 4 at 4K with Ultra Settings IIRC.

MylesRawr 2 Builds 1 point 41 months ago

4K ultra seems seems like almost too much xD

GamerDeso 2 points 41 months ago

Yep, but yeah, who knows. Some games in the future may take up alot of VRAM for some reason, even at 1920x1080

QuantumEssence 1 Build 2 points 40 months ago

I think that once your computer is stable after 4k Ultra gaming, it levels up and is capable of time travel.

istealunderwear 9 Builds 0 points 41 months ago

Could've spent 100$ more and gotten a 290.

GamerDeso 1 point 41 months ago

Well, personal preference at some point. Plus AMD has only recently have their cards pretty much back to what they were supposed to be priced at.

istealunderwear 9 Builds 0 points 41 months ago

Still a lot better preforming than a 760. And a 770. So yeah, I never understood the Intel vs amd or nvidia vs amd, when you can just spent from what you need and what your budget is. Because It mostly depens on that.

GamerDeso 1 point 41 months ago

Well a 290 is a $100 more which doesn't mean much if you can build a rig for almost $2500, but who knows. Plus, I'm a real fan of AMD, but I don't like how AMD treats their own stuff.

istealunderwear 9 Builds 1 point 41 months ago

What do you mean by "treats their own stuff"?

istealunderwear 9 Builds 1 point 41 months ago

Why down vote me, It was just a statement. Never said that it would be better for him or the situation. Never disliked nor did i say anything to counter argue what other people would say.

It's just a simple statement. Are you guys really that hardcore nvidia fans?

goku9122 4 Builds 1 point 41 months ago

If you're going to upgrade anything, I recommend a GTX 780 Ti / another Barracuda 1TB unless you don't need space / a Corsair 750D

Also, you need 2 extra sticks of RAM from the same kind because aricleather was right, the X79 are dedicated for quad channel RAM.

Anyway, such a handsome build. +1

Josh_Grundon 1 point 41 months ago

why the 750d exactly? The h440 is gorgeous..

goku9122 4 Builds 2 points 41 months ago

I know the H440 is gorgeous.

It's just that I prefer the -D series.

They are simple, stylish, they also contain 5.25" drive bays unlike the H440.

asianboiwill submitter 1 Build 1 point 41 months ago

I didn't want to get a full tower, it would not have fit onto my desk, the tower itself was a bit larger than I expected.

dromni 1 Build 1 point 41 months ago

Can you still return the 760 for a 770? If you can I'd strongly recommend that. Great build nonetheless! +1

asianboiwill submitter 1 Build 1 point 41 months ago

unfortunately not, however the card runs great for the games I play, unfortunately I'm out of the return policy along with the EVGA 90 day step up program. I decided in a year or two if needed I'll just go all the way and upgrade to a 780 ti/whatever is out there, as someone suggested earlier.

But definitely not now, whenever the price seems right. This build was originally a 2k budget however I forgot to factor in the cost of my two HDD.

dromni 1 Build 1 point 41 months ago

Yeah think the GTX 900 series will be out by then so might as well upgrade to one of these. Or, when you get enough cash, buy a second 760 4gb and sli these :)

Undomil 1 Build 1 point 41 months ago

I don't understand how you could have spend $2300 dollars and only gotten a 760...

asianboiwill submitter 1 Build 2 points 41 months ago

as mentioned earlier, I wasn't sure which card to get at the time. I do regret not getting the 770 2gb as it was the same price however this card performs superb for my usage.

Undomil 1 Build 1 point 41 months ago

I get that. It's a really high end base system. It's not the fact that you got a 760, it's that you spent so much elsewhere. There are a ton of great motherboards for half the price of yours, for example, and that would have freed enough for you to get a 780, even. Good thing is, you won't have to upgrade anything but your gpu for at least a few years.

mineman117 1 point 41 months ago

How's that Taipan mouse? I was looking at getting one.

asianboiwill submitter 1 Build 2 points 41 months ago

works great, feels awk at first but I actually utilized all 4 buttons so its definitely a bonus

tomasvaldes 1 point 41 months ago

You did a really good job for a first time build

JustAnotherGamer 1 point 41 months ago

i7 4930K... but a GTX 760??? Other than that this is a great build.

JustAnotherGamer 1 point 40 months ago

...and still a 760...

EpicWindz 1 point 37 months ago

How the actual ****!? it says your i7 is $220. But for me, the cheapest one is $640...

JafferAli 1 Build 1 point 24 months ago

every time your keyboard touches your mousepad a kitten dies.

binaryjigsaw -3 points 41 months ago

(nice build :D )

GamerDeso 1 point 41 months ago

Its his setup though. Not like we have any power to make him do so.
