Hey! thanks for looking at my build! I posted this as mostly a hate sponge, knowing that you guys are very picky (more like pcpartpicky lol) and I cinda wanted to post a hate sponge with my mistake so others can be warned away from what I did. anyways, I am a 14 year old male, I am going into high school, and instead of buying a laptop to take to school and back, I decided to build my self a more powerful and less expensive desktop to take and use one of my schools provided monitors. I have been building computers for about 3 years now, and I have never built a Mini Itx or micro atx build, so I thought I would try it out. here are the parts I chose and my reasoning for them.
cpu: Intel Core i5-3350P. wanted a cheep quad core intel cpu that6 did not suck power like a demon. I also did not want or need the integrated graphics, so the 3350p fit the bill.
motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H77N-WIFI. Needed to be cheep, lga 1155, mini itx, not total crap. I chose the hzz version because I was not planning on overclocking, especially with such a small case. The wifi was a massive plus, just worked out great. plus, It matched the all black./grey color scheme.
gpu: EVGA GeForce GTX 650. this was my biggest concern in the build, I wanted something that was low power consumption, and cool and quite and would work for gaming and programs like autocad and stuff. I was thinking the 660, but the 650 had such an attractive price point, I could not resist. I seriously could not been happier! unlike most peoples thoughts, the 650 is a great entry level gaming card as well as a auto cad beast. plus it was only 100$
hdd: Seagate Barracuda 1tb 7200. simple, ok performance, inexpensive at my local microcenter.
ram: took a gamble and went ddr3 1333mhz, don't really see any difference between 1333 and 1600 or 1866, I am not using integrated graphics, so a tad slower clock rate is not too bad.
case: corsair cooler master elite 120. absolutely hate this case. cable management is a *****, airflow is confusing at best, disk drive sticks out and looks so ugly I removed it from the build. I am very dissapionted, I have enjoyed my other coolermaster cases like the haf 932 and storm.
power supply: corsair 430m. I went partially modular, thinking it would free up some room in the case. I was wrong, I used all but one cable anyways, so kinda a waste. other that that, It was cheep and the internet seems to think it is pretty reliable. thanks corsair.
OS. I have arch linux on there dual booted with windows 8. so sew me I kinda like windows 8 and the metro interface is really not to bad once you get used to it. go ahead. light the torches and sharpen the pickaxes. I am ready to defend myself with my faster boot times and built in anti virus, so I don't get infected with a virus on my way to installing bit defender and malwarebytes, plus I have Linux for all my "important" work.
finally: feel free to comment and rate and ask questions, please don't be a jerk and do this "I would have built this: www.Iamadouche.nettt!! it is a 1000 times better." nobody appreciates that. sorry for the low rez pics. they came from my low res camera, which I don't have the cash to replace right now.
