Description

Edit* Thanks PCPP for the feature!

I also have a video of the build that you can see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVBoMU_Ix0Q

I started this system over a year and a half ago, though it still isn't the build that took me the longest. The goal I wanted to accomplish was to prove that workstations can also be sexy, they don't have to be black or beige boxes. On top of that, I've always wanted to do a Steampunk build and so I figured, why not, lets do them altogether.

Pretty much every single component at this point has been modded/painted in some way. Every single piece of the case was modded in some way and painted. Every single screw for every single component was painted. The blocks/backplates were custom copper plated by my previous employer, EK Water Blocks.

Other details include:

The 2 gauges on the side are fully functional and show CPU/RAM usage

The nixie tubes up top are functional and show display water temperature via in line temp sensors

Genuine 100% real leather and brass, all cut by hand

All rivets were done by hand

This build uses over 200 fittings, every single one of them was either painted or sanded down to the brass

I'm really happy with the results and I hope everyone here enjoys it as well. I'll be posting an entire build log soon!

This build will be used for my new business venture to edit and create 4k content.

Sickest build on the site!

Sam_Flynn 1 Build 11 points 14 months ago

And 4th most expensive

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 22 points 14 months ago

If I add my monitors, keyboard, mouse, and the cost of all the modding materials, I could easily take 2nd. Maybe 1st if I really wanted to learn how much I spent. Spoiler: I don't, and neither does the girlfriend.

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 17 points 14 months ago

Looking at the builds in detail, now that I see that I've only been out done by a recording studio and 2 home theaters, I can live with myself.

Sam_Flynn 1 Build 6 points 14 months ago

Naw dude, this build is lit. I would pay money to come see it in person. Honestly, it looks like a "The Room" box.

finianb1 1 point 2 months ago

I love that game! And yeah, it kinda does.

bcmthhd 1 Build 6 points 14 months ago

Yours is definitely the top one. The other top three combined their audio equipment and non-related stuff into the price tag.

Mr_Argon 2 points 12 months ago

It is top

yveshe 5 Builds 3 points 14 months ago

This build's theme is so cyberpunk and ancient looking as if this PC (and giving by the components in general) look like some ancient technology we didn't reach yet.

Velocitron2000 3 points 14 months ago

Steampunk, not cyberpunk.

yveshe 5 Builds 2 points 14 months ago

Right. Forgot the differences.

nycdarkness 5 Builds 3 points 14 months ago

Those people added their kitchen sink and garage door to their build to pad the price. I don't even include my monitor speakers amps keyboard etc to mine either. The build price should be strictly the pc. For the build, it's not my taste but I can appreciate the effort that went into it. Did Ek sponsor this build? While I see you took great effort in adding small touches to many of the EK items but they seem to be left in a way that I can easily tell they are EK products. Given the extent in which you went to mod the case, and other items it seems the Ek items were done minimally with purpose. I know you use to work for EK and perhaps that is the reasoning. I understand there might be obligations to approach the mod in certain ways as a result. However, that to me is the weakest point of an overall amazing and outstanding mod.

skyscraper289 1 point 8 months ago

Well now it is 7th.

did you see how even the RAM is water cooled?

syg101 3 Builds 24 points 14 months ago

The thing is though, after this, everybody else will think that their build is inferior.

And they're right, but man, you just have to think to yourself, "Why can't I make my build as good as this?" And then you go to the bar, have a couple of drinks, and remind yourself that this world is still worth living for.

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 18 points 14 months ago

hi_im_snowman 15 points 14 months ago

The most complex, cleanest, innovative, inventive, interesting, detailed, consistent, artsy, professional, powerful, compelling, thought-provoking & just purely insane build I have EVER seen.

Now this, THIS is next level right here.

Now listen here mate, you had me at the on/off switch. The rest was gravy.

+1 (I mean, of course +1... Never been so obvious)

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 13 points 14 months ago

Thanks man :) comments like these make it all worth it

hi_im_snowman 3 points 14 months ago

All on merit my friend. Best of luck in the new venture, I've been in the startup game myself, it's tough, I wish you great resilience, patience and success!

Lead Designer: Vincent Van Gogh Co-Designer: Leonardo da Vinci Lead Builder: Michelangelo

Get my drift? This is on a level to be considered art.

This is such a minor thing, but my favorite part of the build is how you routed the GPU cables. Brilliant.

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 5 points 14 months ago

Having just finished reading Angels & Demons last night, this comment put a huge smile on my face :) thank you!

someta 4 Builds 7 points 14 months ago

Not with that attitude! :)

SubNauticaWaterWorld47 6 points 14 months ago

Everyday I wake up to check the newest featured build. Everyday I wait patiently for a new feature to come around. Everyday I ponder if the next one and/or the current one is worth a feature. I sit and wait at my computer browsing through the completed builds looking for something truly worthy of a PCPP feature. Something that screams effort and determination. I have seen many a features in my time on this wonderful website and they all showed significant effort but there was something missing. All of the features looked great but something was simply still missing. It wasn't cost, professional photos or a lengthy description telling of all the effort put in. It was a build in which every part was modified to perfection and every detail carefully thought over in order to truly fulfill its theme. Here it is... in all of its beautiful customized glory the Verktøy Cu. Every part modified to complete the steampunk theme. From the power switch to the copper bars everything screams the theme steampunk. Every part carefully modified in order to show the world how a true custom workstation build should look. I thank you fine sir. You have given me something to truly please my eyes.

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 3 points 14 months ago

Thank you so much man :) reading this makes all the time, money, and stress that this build caused, worth it.

SubNauticaWaterWorld47 2 points 14 months ago

I sure hope so that is and will forever be in my opinion the most well done build on this site.

Caminon 1 Build 5 points 14 months ago

How to be featured on Pcpartpicker:

Either:

1) Change the ENTIRE design of EVERY single part in the build, creating something truly unique and interesting

2) Make a custom loop in the Enthoo Evolv.

Popsoda 1 Build 4 points 14 months ago

Holy moly. I live steampunk and I love pc building and.... wow. Abosolutely incredible. I don't even.... it's so beautiful. There's no words for this masterpiece.

LIVE_AMMO 3 points 14 months ago

Is this real life or is this fantasy?

What an amazing Build!!! Honestly, just brilliant!

I have always appreciated the industrial style themed builds which really compliment the mechanics in computer hardware. Personally, this is by far the best build i've seen on PCPP (im kinda new since Mar 17 so apologies if I have overlooked others). +1 does not justify, its a +10 and then some

Tooth 1 Build 3 points 14 months ago

I was up vote #131

Your detail...........so very amazing. Jaw dropper. Thanks for sharing.

And thanks for not letting us look at 275 pics. I enjoyed each and every pic you posted.

Again, just simply amazing.

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

I can't tell if that means you want more or less photos haha

Tooth 1 Build 2 points 14 months ago

no, your 19 pics are great :)

I can not stand builds that have 30 pics of the same part. Take that times 10 parts = over 300 pics. Those that post way too many pics must sleep in bed with their camera :) And you wont see those pics!!

hesif 2 points 14 months ago

Never seen something like this on the site before. Amazing.

Gooberdad 10 Builds 2 points 14 months ago

All jokes aside though, pretty nice build, my dude.

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

Haha I'm glad you think that! It's actually a textured floor drop.

Songster 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

If there is a heaven, I am VERY certain your services will be heavily required there.

Omg! You built a Masterpiece. Your build is the best I have seen here to date.

ianicus 1 point 14 months ago

sweet build, thou the fan bearings will probably burn out faster than they normally would with the blades painted (extra weight and impossible to evenly distribute exactly) that was my only negative thought, otherwise, the detail is insane.

24p 1 point 14 months ago

Every once in a while, we find a gem on this website. You my friend, own that gem. Hats off to you.

Austinthemighty 1 point 14 months ago

Dammm that's one cool build, did you 3d print the gears on the second picture

N0_N4M3 1 point 14 months ago

LonghornAlamo2040 1 point 14 months ago

This amazing build just SCREAMS steampunk! Truly awesome!!

04vkrivor 1 point 14 months ago

this HAS to be the GREATEST PC OF ALL TIME

FishingLegend 1 point 14 months ago

Do the IN-12 Nixie tubes function?? Awesome.

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 2 points 14 months ago

Unfortunately they're Chinese QS30s, but they do work! They display water temps via an inline sensor.

FishingLegend 1 point 14 months ago

That's still awesome! What are you using to control them? Custom controller or bought?

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 2 points 14 months ago

It's an old, limited edition fan controller from a company called Lamptron, the model # is FC10 if you want to look it up. It controls fan speeds for non-pwm fans (all fans are controlled by PWM via the motherboard in this build), displays current fan speeds (unfortunately also useless unless I do some fancy cabling but not really worth it), and so it only is doing its last function, which is displaying the temp of the temperature sensors I built into the loop.

auldae 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

I'm showing this to everyone who asks me why anyone would build their own PC. "You can do this." No further details needed +1!

Zelda_ 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Well....****, I'm speechless. Take your upvote and add it to the other 200-odd you have. <3

LogWin 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Wow. This is insane build. It called one old and strange movie in mine mind I watched in 90-th. "The City of Lost Children" All those dark surrealistic apparatuses... Do not know if I can post the link to nice trailer of that movie but I will https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pa7oVPru4J8

LogWin 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Are those bulbs with digits inside are functional?

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

Yes, they display in line water temperature

LogWin 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

That's very cool!

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

I added some more details to the post, I'm realizing I'm not very good at remembering everything I did to this build :D

Apach3 3 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

goodness gracious, how many calls have you gotten from the late 19th century asking for that thing back? that looks proper vintage!

Jarmund 1 point 14 months ago

words can't describe how amazed i am right now for this build... wow!

also, isn't it a bit overkill even for 4k content??

xTHExRADxREXx 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

GOD DAMN

rip your credit but here is the real question... Can it play roblox well? jk i'm more interested about minecraft

who has 20,000 dollars sitting around for this PC (if i had that much $$ i would buy this no doubt)

jak-jak 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

Stunning custom work! I am impressed at the level of detail. Inspiring me for my next build. LOL, even though I JUST finished one. I think I have a new addiction.

kennyboy12 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

I... I just don't even anymore. It's.... that... look it... gah, I can't even talk! I love this on so many levels.

I love copper tubing. Seeing these more and more inspires me to go this route for my next build, though, I may try to find some copper tubes that also have a sort of.. window? down opposite sides of the tube so that you can see the cool green coolant inside.

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

This was actually my original plan, but it got a little too out of control and I ultimately decided against it due to the complications it would introduce.

NoobyGamer 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Astounded at the craftsmanship! Course the components are great too but that exterior...something else. +1

BTW what camera was used for the pictures?

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

Sony A7S II + Sony 24-70 F2.8

jwnn 1 point 14 months ago

This is Legitimate art! +1

When you get a new computer you should sell this thing to an art museum!

DominicBoccella 1 point 14 months ago

Holy carp this is amazing

necrodor21 1 point 14 months ago

how you get that ram cover?

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

From EK

xharp 1 point 14 months ago

Congratulations - I generally don't go out of my way to drop a comment for builds, independently of how flashy or silly looking they may be.

After seeing this one though, I just had to say Congratulations! - You've done a work of art, and I'm sure you really put your heart on it. If I had a 3D model of it I'd render out a full blown animation of it, with steam, fog light and bolts! :D

This is utterly, utterly insane. Must weigh a ton.

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

I have to take off the external panels in order to lift it :(

Nwr0110 1 point 14 months ago

That's dope and this build has been posted recently. Over 500 likes and 150 comments.

EdenGarcia 1 point 14 months ago

Just amazing, I was trying to pitch the idea of a copper themed build to my brother about a month ago and he just didn't think it could work. Needless to say when he saw this his jaw hit the floor

LucasLaurentino 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Darn i must say that this is not for the regular consumer. This is for the most artistic and powerhungry pc enthusiast so this +1 is for you pal. Great build ;)

SpaceNarwhal 1 point 14 months ago

Gotta say, I'm not a fan of steampunk but this, this makes me feel like I should change my mind. I never thought I'd see a build that could look so good by making itself look so dirty. +{insert some arbitrary ordinal number like aleph null here} for the side panel window design

On a side note I see that you have the motherboard listed as a custom part when it is actually listed on this site alread, here's the link if you feel like updating it https://pcpartpicker.com/product/2frcCJ/asus-motherboard-z10ped8ws

ItsElSavage 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Can you run PUBG on ultra and tell us your FPS on there? lol 4 titans, thats insane...looks amazing though man, well done.

SpacemanSpliff 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

Honestly, probably not any better than an i7-7700K, even with the CPU bottlenecking the GPUs at that point. Xeons are definitely not optimized for gaming, so under 4K resolutions, there would be nowhere near a justifiable amount of performance gained to cost increase. But seeing as this is principally a rig built for editing and rendering, it'll do quite nicely.

jkxs 1 point 13 months ago

Holy **** this is amazing.

OllieManMan 11 Builds 1 point 13 months ago

amazing art and craftsmanship! You win at life.

DOGALD 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

linus says "BUT IT DOESNT HAVE RGB"

SpacemanSpliff 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

The only question I have is since you're using this machine as a render/edit orientated machine... why not have chosen to go with a pair of Quadro P5000s?

They'd have cost you about $800 less than Quad Titans, can still be water cooled as EK's Short Top 1080 blocks fit them, they would draw less than half the wattage, and with it being dual Xeons in a workstation class board you're apparently don't seem interested in doing AAA title gaming on this rig... Just curious, why you choose Titans is all.

ThaGøgler 1 point 13 months ago

Damn your build look sick.

BTW what ratio did you mix the EK-CryoFuel?

SenpaiStudios submitter 4 Builds 1 point 13 months ago

Mmmmm I think it was 150mL of green concentrate 100mL of clear concentrate, and maybe 100mL of pastel yellow. Then like a gallon of distilled. It's all of EK's old coolant though that I've had sitting around for ages.

Techmaster123Xd 1 point 13 months ago

Nice build. But don't like the look. But that my opinion

DireDodo 1 point 12 months ago

It's like someone gets this so they can play a low-end game/something a $200 thing could run at 40FPS

skyrise 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

Sweet Holly Jesus! This was build with a lot of love!

Be happy with it for long time to come and may the force be with you!

Glorious!

Tower-CG 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

This is by far the coolest build I've ever seen...

Homerod 1 point 12 months ago

Even the pictures have a certain quality about them! I've been looking at this thing for almost 2 hours now when I should be working. I would really like to see other pictures as well. Like what did you do with this thing? Do you have any other steampunk items that go with it?

Ps. Thanks for sharing with us!

Myprsite 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

This is the most beautiful build I've ever seen in my life. Well done, very well done.

This is simply amazing. . . I was just scrolling through completed builds and I saw this and just had to check it out. That on/off switch was the best out of all of the build.

ericmartin6755 1 point 4 months ago

The raddist build I’ve seen on this site. A masterpiece hands down .

ericmartin6755 1 point 4 months ago

Needs more power

Chucklesyt 1 point 4 months ago

this is honestly one of the craziest builds on here, is there a reason you needed all this power?

proppapoppa 1 point 3 months ago

Absolutely stunning. As a tradesman/craftsman who prides himself on perfection(well as close as one can get :)) and detail in my work, my unquenchable thirst for art and REAL craftsmanship in people's creations/work has been completely and thoroughly slaked. Very well done. I am impressed, and I promise you, not much impresses me. Amazing job. You should forever be proud of what you have made there. I would wager that there will maybe be a handful of PCs out there that are on the level of your creation. Impressive.

Excaliburger 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

You know what is great about this build? It would be justified if the system happens to be loud, just imagine all the gears and steam running.

Leg3ndary 1 point 3 months ago

Great detail

cheeno 1 point 1 month ago

BROOOOOOO this is incredible.

Hoya 1 point 19 days ago

I found this on a Google search on robot **** but im into that old steampunk stuff so I was really "aroused" when I saw this hunka junka wanted to **** every nut and bolt.

JimmyJimmy 1 point 17 days ago

This is incredible. Not just the build but the time and dedication you put into it as well. Looks like the box in “The Room.”
