Description

I upgraded my setup and pc a little while ago so i figured i`d post it again.

Mainly used for playing games like Watchdogs 2, ARK, Rocket league and Rust. Still going to upgrade the CPU, MOBO and RAM but that will have to wait until i have more money. Probaply going to be a Ryzen 1800x with 32g`s of ram and a random x470 or x370 motherboard.

Part Reviews

CPU

Not an option in 2018 for whatever you want to do because it is inefficient and worse than an i3 from 2018.

CPU Cooler

Very silent and cool CPU cooler, nothing wrong with this thing.

Motherboard

Horrible power phase for a CPU like a FX 8350, wouldn`t recommend to anyone.

Memory

Super reliable RAM, and if it breaks you will just get a free replacement.

Storage

Way faster then my old HDD!, no issues with this thing so far.

Video Card

Amazing GPU for 1080p gaming.

Power Supply

Pretty reliable, can get a little noisy under heavy load

No one asked....Why not Ryzen?? haha... hate those people! Great build, the fx8 can still hang +1 for keeping it going and looking good!!

Don't make fun of the poor little FX chip... :c

I really like the tiny fan blowing at some of the vrms above the CPU, haha. Is that why you have the cooler mounted like that?

The VRMs on FX boards really needed an uplift in cooling and power because a heavily OC FX cpu can easily go over 200w+ of power draw and that can be a challenge for VRMs. Due to the IPC being so far behind though the FX cpus were not that useful for gaming especially when compared to much newer CPUs (even the pentium CPUs) for game FPS.

This is a post I made from my experience dealing with a FX CPU on WoW's forums if you want to see the difference of a FX 8320 with a beefy PC compared to both a R7 1800x and a Pentium G4600: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20763186195 (Note, all 3 with the exact same GPU moved between PCs)

I still think FX builds have their place. Especially if it's already together and still working. Ryzen might be a better bang for the buck but there's no shame in getting the remanding performance out. Nice setup too!

Yeah but an upgrade would be nice especially in cpu intensive games the fx shows its age, btw thanks man!

Depends on price, for gaming though the r5-2600k will be a better performer because it can turbo faster per core and games really won't take advantage of the added cores/threads in the 1800x. Well if you get into productivity that can take advantage of that many cores then the r7-2700 or x version will be solid choices too.

Yeah I am sure it can be, with a decent OC on that CPU I can see you running 80% or more of the PSU capacity and this the fan will really need to work to keep itself cool.

Really good cable management BTW.

Maybe i'll get a 2700x if the price comes down a little, thanks for the compliment btw

My friend’s FX build just hit the fan and he’s gone from a simple platform upgrade to a new system entirely. FX isn’t going to be hanging around for much longer.

Yeah i know I won't keep this one for more then a year i guess.
