AMD... Well, AMD just wasn't doing it for me anymore... So here's Scarlett 3.0, the third revision of my PC now in the past year. I had been running AMD until today when I switched to intel via the 6600K. Let me say, if you're an AMD owner and you have the money, switch to intel. I cant believe the difference really. Not to mention it's a lot more sexy now than before as well. I tried to stay true the red on black like fat chicks on cupcakes theme, but I am putting white in the equation now. I'll figure out another spot or two for something white in the future.
The new CPU is really great for what I do such as Total War Attila & Rome 2 as well as Photo Shop & Light Room. The AMD chip took FOREVER to render and load photos and do anything with it as well as use anything more than 2 armies in Total War. This is no longer the case at all. It tears through any tests like P95 wicked fast. I've got a stable 4.6 Ghz OC now with acceptable temps and voltage. I suspect I can push it further maybe tomorrow.
The RAM is slow because I originally had a 6500 and 2133 is all it takes. I returned that a day later and got the 6600K. I'll be OC'ing the memory shortly and will likely achieve 2600-2800 Mhz. Big fan of the design too to be honest.
The motherboard! Oh good god this motherboard. The audio quality!! The build quality! The looks! The audio is mind blowing. Coming from a $120 AMD mobo on board sound to this is crazy. I had to have my speakers at 100% and on board putting out at 20% for a good TV level sound. Now I have my speakers at 100% and on board at 2% output. Its infinitely more clear, full and dynamic sound whether on my speakers or Sennheisers thanks to the switchable op amp and switchable gain switch on the Mobo for different devices as far as Ohms. I'm also a fan of the reset, clear CMOS, on/off, OC and Eco as well as dual BIOS buttons built right onto the mobo. Makes clearing the CMOS and over clocking a lot easier if something goes awry.
Everything else is great too. The fairly new PSU is far better than the old 600B. The 970 is usually pretty killer for 1080p @144Hz. The H60 keeps the 6600K at about 70-80 at 4.6GHz and full load. Its a very quiet build as well since I can't stand a loud PC next to me. Replaced the rad fan with a SP120 quiet fan. Same with the case fans, AF120 quiets. The PSU has fan off mode too, so thats like its not there.
Alright, seeing as I guess I've now written more here than I have this year in college I'll stop here. Any questions, feedback, etc. is welcomed and thanked in advanced.
