Description

This build is for my son's for everyday and gaming. They are still young so they don't need a heavy-duty gaming rig. I think this will fit the bill and enable future expansion as needed. This was going to be an upgrade for the old system, but I decided to go with a whole new case. The only thing original to the old computer is the liquid cooling unit that is only about a year old. Went with the liquid cooling because I like the openness it creates around the CPU and clean look without a huge heatsink/fan there. The boys love the case and I'm actually jealous of it as my other case is a Cooler Master Elite 430 which doesn't have the awesome cable management of this case. This is the second version of this build I originally used a Logisys 550W PSU, but was convinced (by others here) it was garbage so I swapped in the CX600 from my other computer. It works great!

Part Reviews

Case

This case Rocks! The green window/lights and the front fascia is a great look for a gaming rig. Love the built in cable management. Easy, easy to install components. Open back for the CPU, it's about time cases were built like this. Awesome!

Nice computer! Though I'd suggest buying an athlon 860K since your not using the IGPU to get a better graphics card or RAM or PSU.

If you get that Athlon you definitely wanna upgrade that PSU first.

no, i was referring to the comment above on how you said he needs a better psu for that athlon. i was thinking you were saying that he needs more wattage to have an athlon in his build. and i know cx series are bad for overclocking.

and nothing in his comment says anything about overclocking. if he said he he should get an athlon and overclock, then i would say cx series is bad aswell

Nice build although you probably would have saved money by going woth the AMD Athlon 860k instead of an APU since you got a dedicated GPU but other than that its good.

I bought the R7 260X for my other computer, but changed it to a GTX 960 so I put the R7 in this computer. It is a better card than the dedicated GPU so I figured why not?

Do you have the original directions for that Seidon 120? I think I've read that when you mount the radiator in the case... the hoses are supposed to be on the bottom side. From what I remember, this is recommended so that an airlock isn't created... which would stop the coolant from flowing.

Can you explain your choice of APU over CPU for this build?

I want to know if this case would be good for my first build. Also would this work ok with a micro ATX motherboard

Yes it will fit a micro ATX MB. It is a great case. Comes in other colors than green too!

Thanks. Green is my favorite color so this case looks good for me

I ran without a graphics card at first that's why I got it that way. Got the MB/CPU/Memory as a bundle. "Who is a heavy gamer", you mean NOT a heavy gamer. How about just because I wanted it that way.
