Description

Hi, this is my second build (first one was a family build) and I am pretty impressed with the results, the side window mod was done by a friend and is of his old thermaltake case, the stickers I simply bought of amazon, the wires are messy at the minute but I hope to be adding another gpu, better fan controller, and corsair fans.

I think you need more stickers.

I probably would have gone with a Radeon HD 7850 for similar performance, lower price, and OCD but whatever. The 660 is a pretty good card, better than AMD if you're planning on multiple GPUs.

The 7870 is a great card but with all these new cards its done :/

Nope the new 2xx series from AMD are just basic rebadges of old cores with a little overclock on it. The only new cards are the 290x (770 competitor for $729) and a couple mid range cards.

The 660 is about equal to my 5870 in my htpc build, which means its a great card. I'd love to see his 3dmark11 score to see how it compares to my htpc.

I don't think you get what I'm saying bro, the 7870 is getting old and there are better cards out there, the 770 since you want to bring that up is great and it will blow it away, the 2-- series cards I'm not up to date with but obviously they're going to be good if they haven't came out yet xD

The 5870 is a good card but old the 660 is a moderate card and is getting old, I don't know if you get it this time but in a less complicated way I'm saying the 7870/7850 is great but its getting old and no matter what in some aspect these new cards are better even if you say all the things are the same, it could even be drivers making it have a slight performance boost.

The 780 is a $650 GPU vs a $169. That 760 you have in your saved parts list is a rebadged 660ti and my old 7950 eats it when over clocked.

Same core with slight clock boost doesn't equal better. 660ti = 760. 680 = 770.

So stock 780>770=7970=680>670>7950>760>7870>660ti>660>7850

Over clocked 780>770=7970=680>7950>670>7870>660ti>7850>660

My saved parts are **** I'm toying with for people that I make builds for on Hack Forums or just friends, my build I'm saving for isn't in there.

Feel sorry for anyone who follows your recommendations. Your RAM and PSU choices are laughable

Could bottleneck? Maybe i dunno

rossiosinc [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

Other people saying it shouldn't if the cpu is overclocked slighty

Ahhh right cool cool

Darkstar1756 1 point 12 months ago

That CPU can handle a 7950 with ease and will definitely handle dual 660's if you overclock, not to mention that CPU overclocks like a mofo.

Firecrackers [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

I can say it probably won't. My friend has a 6300 paired with a GTX 660 and it works just fine for him. If an 8350 can work great with a 680, then I'm more than sure a 6300 will be fine with a 660.

Probably should have gotten 6gb of RAM or more, but other than that it's pretty good.

rossiosinc [Submitter] [1 Build] 2 points 12 months ago

Planning to add another 4gb soon

Sounds good!

Or to cover up a scratch my friend made while he decided to cut the hole for the window with an angle grinder...

xBlood_Monkey [9 Builds] 1 point 12 months ago

How big was the scratch?? Lol. :p

Nice build though. :)

I'm very pernickety ;)

No kidding. :p

I really hope that's just one huge decal on your PC.
