Description

My first build, everything worked out better than expected!!

I called it "Stud" cause he is so big and powerful compared to my crappy laptop ;)

  • Not buying the i5 4690k is what I consider my only mistake. Didn't know that the normal one's aren't overclockable :(

  • Also, don't take the prices too seriously, I am from Germany and pcpartpicker doesn't really find the best prices for Germany. So I planned the build on here and looked prices up on this website.

  • The mouse, bungee and headset aren't new, I had them for my laptop already.

Crucial RAM, SSD and Asus K type mothernoard in a nearly $2000 build. Was it a problem to improve this and spend $2100?

Ya, I didn't know that only the k Processors are overclockable, kinda stupid by me. Oh well, we all make mistakes and now I know for the future...

He's talking about the non-k unoverclockable CPU.

Perhaps he doesn't want to overclock.

Cool build, it's a shame that you can't overclock that processor, but sometimes it's easier not to or you already have the parts.

Best of luck with it!

Can someone tell me if this budget gaming computer is decent for the price and if it could run and record graphically intense games on medium to high settings, please comment on things I could improve but still stay under the $750.00 price range! This is my first build :D

Why didn't you build this on Black Friday? They had some great stuff like a 290 for $200. Anyways, there is a large performance difference between a 760 and a 280X. A 280X will cost you $20 more if you go for the Powercolor model, and some more if you go for another brand.

The CPU is weak-get an FX-8320. There's a good price on it not far from what your processor's price is. Your processor is obsolete. If you absolutely do not want to pay more, get the newer 6300.

Finally, the PSU isn't enough either way, so you should go for something along the lines of 650w-750w from Corsair, EVGA, PC Power & Cooling, Rosewill, Seasonic, Antec and maybe Thermaltake. Don't get anything from any other company. It doesn't matter that much as to which company's which model as long as it's one of the ones I listed. Still, some of them have some bad apples in the bunch, so google is and always will be your best friend.

600w will also get the job done, but AMD products are based on high energy consumption for overclocking, so you will either be limited or at risk if you plan on extensive overclocking with both (you want to overclock-especially the CPU. It was made with OCing in mind to begin with.

I would recommend this: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/DTqVCJ

P.S You will also want a CPU Cooler so you can overclock better. You can add that in later, though.

Thanks for replying and giving me tips and recommendations :D I took your advice and changed my parts up a bit. I'm new to building pc's so I'm going to look up how to overclock CPUs, I hope it isn't very difficult!

Here's my build now http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/CosmicCerealYT/saved/GpFYcf

Good, but like I said, you're going to like the XFX 280X better than the 760. It beats the 770, which is the 760's older brother. It also looks sexier than the 760, which might be a plus.

I'd try and tidy up the cables a little bit more. Other than that, seems great. (E.g.: run the yellow SATA cable into the hole up top, and out the very bottom one).

hey i was wondering if their is any coil whine on your gtx 970 and how loud the video card is?

I don't notice any coil whine. The fans are usually off if I'm just browsing/watching vids. I didn't notice any loud noises, but I usually use headphones so I'm not sensible to noise.
