Description

I built this for mostly gaming and productivity. I went with the i3 6100 to start with and plan to upgrade to an i5 K chip as soon as I can save up the money. The machine is working great and I love the look. Sometimes the 2 cores seem to be a problem, but it's only been a couple weeks, so I'll have to wait and see.

Here's a video that walks through the build: https://youtu.be/fY98dN9oBQ0

I started out with a GTX 960, but got a little Xmas influx of cash and decided to go up to the R9 390. I liked the Nvidia software a little bit better but over all the R9 390 seems to be a much better performer. This is my first non-budget build and I'm coming over from gaming primarily on console so I'd be interested in what people think and where I might go from here.

Solid decision to upgrade to a 390. The 960 isn't a bad card, but the 390 is just such a powerhouse of a card for the price. Nice build.

Thanks. I wish I'd had the 960 for longer so I could compare the two, but I'm getting great fps in bf4 right now, so I'm happy.

You got a lot going on on that desk, but i like it, it is a very good looking build.

You also made that desk area look nice. If i had that much around my desk, It would not look like that at all... Good work all the way around

Solid choice on the mobo, I have the H170 version and like that it comes with more sata ports.

Such a shame to have the beautiful case showing off that horrid stock cooler (gross fan wires and everything!) I get it, though!

Yeah, it's really for watching/playing in bed. It's on a full motion arm.

Great build. What is your opinion on the Asus 27" monitor? I look to buy that particular model. Do you recommend it?

I like it a lot. Good color reproduction and looks great. 5ms response isn't bad for gaming. I do graphic design and video so I wanted better color than most faster TN panel monitors give you. It's a solid monitor for a decent price.
