my goal was to build a gaming machine that can run anything on ultra performance at 1080p and in the future with some upgrade to run them on 4k. I'm overclocking this currently @4.2GHz and planning to push further .
thnks a lot for the comment.
I don't need 16Gb of ram now but I got the money for it now, I didn't wanted a single 8gb stick of memory and also to block my upgrade option to 16gb by putting two 4gb stick so I think that for the long run it may be best to just start with a lot of headroom on the ram...
the PSU is fine its rated silver and came cheep on a bundle deal with the case, 650W is enough dough I want be able to put another GPU with it..
And what would he do with the $60 dollars he saved with only one 8GB? Personally, I would always buy a stick maxed out for the slot and with dual channel, you need sticks in pairs for best performance so he did exactly what I would have done.
Iv'e updated the temps for the summer here... room temps can get to ~35 deg C.
and these are when my cpu is @ 3.9G Hz so I dont think I can Overclock it a lot...
but everything is running well so far
couple of cooling suggestions: move that top exhaust fan to the bottom in front of the psu and make it an intake, and remove or rotate the top drive cage to let the front fan blow straight on the gpu. this should lower your temps a little (better airflow) and keep the inside less dusty (positive pressure).
thanks!!
did just that help lowering temps for everything a bit :) still cant get past the 4.2 Gh limit .. when i try 4.4 Gh I need at least 1.3V just to boot and then them temps go way up
I'm currently considering replacing the cooler to a H110 and I'm trying to figure out the best setup with it
How is the T80 ti holding up? I have one but haven't completed my build, but recently I have noticed a lot of complaints about the ghz edition from gigabyte tends to crash.
