Description

I use this machine for gaming and school things, it's been built for about a week it's been doing well EDIT: forgot to clarify I bought the 770 last year sort of as an impulse buy to convince me to build the damn thing. I didn't end up having money after that for a while because of not working much and being in a new relationship I plan to sli 970s this summer hopefully and get an ssd and better psu

Looks like a solid build for sure. I do have to ask though: the 770 has been all but discontinued and the 970 is superior in every way at the same price point. Why did you pick the 770? I have the same model 770 you got in a build I made last year and it's a solid card, but... why?

That said, that is a nice looking case and a good build. Welcome to the master race, (lol) and congratulations on completing your first build.

Why 770 over 970 tho?

$1700, no SSD and a 770? Could of save $150 or so and gotten a 970 and a SSD to make the system faster, imo.

The price is in CAD and on top of that, a lot of things in CAD cost much more than they do in the US and some other countries, so it's probably not as bad as it seems.

not everyone wants an ssd though and some people probably wouldn't even be able to tell the difference

SSD is a must have, for everybody, even for elderlies ;) Everybody is able to tell the difference. They are very affordable nowadays and there is no good reason not to have one for a new build or even to upgrade to a SSD.

hehe elderlies. my WoW GM is such a lady. she recently had a gaming system built for her WITH an SSD and she LOVES it! She says the whole system is SUPER quick. So there you have it. Proof even elderlies love SSDs :D

Same here, was thinking of my grandpa when writing this. I put a SSD in his MacBook Pro and he was so happy, he felt like he just had a brand new computer... ;)

I have an ssd myself and i love it. Most people prefer having an hdd as they have said they can't tell the difference which could be true but who knows.

I was one of those people who thought SSDs were for the elite showoffs until I built my first computer and the Micro Center guy told me it was a necessary component for gaming. didn't believe him until I got it and now I can't go back to a HDD (unless it's for data storage). the speeeeed and performance is like going from Impulse to Warp Speed.

So no, you WILL tell the difference.

And yes Pilot is right. Before SSDs were expensive, like for the elites. Now they are cheap. You can get a 128GB for $60.

considering the picture shows the 770 in a brand new unopened box, I'm pretty sure it was a new buy... lol
