Description

Yo whats up you guys its Caleb here and this is my first PC i built 3 years ago. Its been running great! The gpu is starting to show its age same with the cpu but its still a great pc! I had the cpu over clocked to 4.9GHZ but it would randomly lock up so i took it off. I didn't notice any big performance differences between stock speed and the over clock. Ill list everything down below! Thanks for looking at my build! If you have any question about it just let me know! Thanks! Caleb

Part Reviews

CPU

Really awesome CPU! it can overclock really easy and is just a great 8 core CPU for the money!

CPU Cooler

I bought this last year because my cpu was running too hot and i found out that its not supported with my case :( But as you can see i made it work!

Motherboard

I love this board! Asus is my favorite brand of board and this one has everything i need and more!

Memory

Its Ram, it does what its supposed to do. I do like it though

Storage

Got this for Christmas in 2012 for my old dell XPS 420 and I really like it. I used to be my mane SSD but now i use the bigger one. Its pretty quick as well

Storage

This one is even faster than the other one and holds my OS and a few of my games. Nice a quick

Storage

This is a hard drive i got from my grandmas pc when i build her one. I took it from her old computer.

Storage

This is from about 2009 to 2010 range and was in my Dell XPS 420. Still runs good and i just about have it filled up with pictures and videos.

Video Card

Got this on ebay for $230 and was well worth it. It can still play all the games i play and hight to ultra at 1080p. Its starting to slow down so i might need to upgrade at some point this year.

Case

I like this case to a point. Im not sure why Corsair didnt make it compatible with the h100i but i made it work. I still recommend this case to any one needing a nice budget case.

Power Supply

I really like this PSU. Now that i look back i wish i had gotten a fully modular PSU and had at least a bronze rating because i think it was the problem i was having with over clocking. But i still really like it.

Operating System

I actually got windows 8.1 but got the free upgrade to windows 10. Both were really nice

Thanks. I wanted that mechanical keyboard feel without spending the money. my dad works at IBM and he found it in a trash bin lol. It had tins of old gross stuff on it but i got it all of and it works perfect! Only thing is it doesn't have a windows button. Thanks for looking!

Hey uh just so you know that hard drive cage is removable and then you could put the hard drives in optical bay with some screws

  • 1 point

Why would I do that?

Caleb

Maybe so you could actually put your h100i in your case.

Sweet build man, I like it! I would suggest 2 fan grills to cover your radiator fans so you don't cut off a toe or something ;) +1!!!!!!

is that why i only have 4 toes? lol Thanks!

+1 for the IBM Model M. I have an IBM model M2 myself that I managed to score for cheap. After restoring it, I wrapped the body in carbon fiber vinyl and it looks absolutely sick. IMO, old buckling spring mechanical keyboards feel significantly better than modern mechanical keyboards, which feel like toys in comparison.

  • 1 point

Wow that sounds cool. yea i really do love this keyboard other than it doesn't have a windows key and its like 4 inches think but hey it was free and i like it!

Caleb

That's the main reason I went with the M2 over the M, as it's a more compact version. No windows key does suckk, but I have mostly gotten used to it.

Lol +1 for the old motorola razr. I loved that phone!

Your computer needs some help though. No room for your radiator? That's a massive case! Move the optical drive down a slot and mount that radiator on top where it goes. Then put the intake fan back in front where it goes. It would literally take 5 minutes.

That is true. I do like the mean look of it though. im hoping to build myself a new pc next month anyway. if theres something wrong with what i did let me know. it works fine.

Yes it is! Why am i luck? It is a pretty nice key board i have to say.

It's one of the most famous mechanical keyboards out there. It's mentioned everywhere and is quite a standard to meet for keyboard makers.

I think your entire setup looks pretty spiffy. Can't wait to see what you do next !

Looks great! You may want to consider installing filters in your case (with all that white dog hair floating around). I have the same case and ordered filters from a place called Demci Filter. I can't rate them yet because they haven't arrived.

In the meantime, I've been using fabric softener sheets drier sheets taped on :) Something to consider, but it looks awesome!

I would really like to see the updated build you say you have now, both to see the computer but also to see if you still have the speakers, home phone and the keyboard - it's really a throw back in time but cool to see

Yes I should stop being lazy and do it. I have the keyboard and phone still but the speakers got retired to be used in the garage lol.

Yes I do. I think I'd rather get thredripper though. Looks beast.

Also my set up is totally changed. I should probably post an update of it some day. All I know is it's going to make people think "what is this guy thinking!"
