Description

This PC was built for one purpose: ultra-portable no-compromise gaming. It's not terribly showy, and won't nearly satisfy the RGB crowd. It is, however, cool, classy and compact.

how did you connect the cpu cooler and the case panel with 1 usb 3 port and 1 usb 2 port?

Cubano submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

If you're referring to the AIO water block, I have a mini-B USB cable coming out the back to one of the USB 2 ports on the rear I/O panel. It's a hack but I'd rather do that than give up my front USB ports. You can see it in the image below. It's a gray USB cable coming out the rear water cooling opening.

+1 for well thought out and well executed N1 case build.

Man I just don't think that I can roll mini ITX primarily, perhaps solely, due to being limited to just 2 memory slots. Maxing memory is an option that I want for "future proofing"...just 2 more slots in all that i ask! Otherwise your build is spot on for me.

That N1 case... That mobo...ponders mini ITX

You can go usually for 32GB, that will be relevant for a while in gaming.

I have zero regrets about dropping the extra dollars on the case. It is so well-crafted and thoughtful it made the build a joy. The only difficulty was from trying to fit everything into such a tiny space, which is going to be an issue no matter how good the case is. Once I got comfortable with squishing radiator hoses and PSU cables a little, I was OK. Plus I tugged on stuff after to make sure there wasn't too much tension. Everything is pretty much on the edge of perfect.

On the memory, I know your pain but think of it this way. You have a full-function nearly no-compromise PC that can literally travel with you everywhere. Once you have that idea it's addictive.

Awesome build! Are you OCing that CPU?

+1 :)

OC'd to 4.8 GHz using the guide linked below. Worked like a charm. Haven't exactly run Prime95 on it for 12 hours but zero stability issues so far.

It's a nice build.

Which headers you used on your mobo to connect H100i and others fans and how did you connect the Corsair link cable as the mobo does not have a USB 2 header

Cubano submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

Fans: Connecting the fans to the H100i water block made them run at constant 100% speed. Hated it, so noisy. I ended up connecting the fans directly to the motherboard 3 pin headers (cpu and case fan headers) and controlling via DC fan control in the BIOS. Even though the fans don't show up in Corsair software, the mobo controls them just fine and even has options like idling one fan (it see it as a case fan) and setting custom curves. I haven't done thorough temp testing, although it plays BF1 practically silent and stable.

Corsair H100i water block: I have a mini-B USB cable coming out the back to one of the USB 2 ports on the rear I/O panel. It's a hack but I'd rather do that than give up my front USB ports. You can see it in the image below. It's a gray USB cable coming out the rear water cooling opening.
