Description

This all came together so nicely I can't quite believe how easy it was. Been a few years since I built a top of the line system and this was really fun and trouble free.

I had some problems with the GTX980s sagging down quite badly on the right, I used a couple of cable ties to secure the back corner of the cards against the rear of the H440, which worked nicely.

Between the window and the gloss white it's surprisingly difficult to get some decent pics of this build....

Couple of small things left to do:

  • Upgrade my old 24" Dell monitors to something worthy of all this grunt
  • Find a less ugly SLI bridge

I am with you, how do you like the cablemods cables blacktop?

Yeah.. that SLI bridge is hideous I know. I have another less ugly one around here somewhere I just have to dig it up.

I really like the Cablemod cables, they're awesome quality. Quite expensive, but I'm glad I got them. I would have got the white/black mixed set if they were available here.

DDR4 motherboard, now that's something you don't see everyday (yet)....! More pictures would be highly appreciated!

What are you going to use this machine for? Start Skynet :)?

Hehe.. well it's been a few years since I've done a major upgrade - I'm coming from an i7 920 with 6GB RAM, so this is a decent step up. I do some IT work but if I'm honest this is mostly for gaming.. I like to have a system that I can dial everything up to max and not have to worry about it. My old system was struggling with that and so here we are... ;)

Where is your x61 mounted, on the top or in the front of the case?

Currently mounted at the top. I thought about moving it to the front as I think it's a bit stifled for airflow with the soundproof padding at the top of the H440 - but I think it would be much the same story at the front really. I'm very happy with my current temps. though anyway.

How did you feel this build did? Performance wise on games? Any thing you would do different? I am building a similar build which is why I ask.

Really happy with it. I just picked up a 4K Dell monitor to go with this system and so far I've been able to play everything I like at pretty much max settings (just turned down AA, as you don't need it at 4K etc).

But yeah, it came together easily, simple build that looks great. I'm totally happy with it.

Nice build. Any chance of your explaining how you went about with Fan control? Example: What fans in what motherboard headers, and What fans are being controlled by Cam or AI3 Suite.

Thank you
