Why the 1000W PSU? PSUs are most efficient when they're providing 50-75% of the rated power output.

He'll probably put some heavy-duty GPUs in there, unless he already has and they just aren't listed. GPUs can take up a lot of power.

In the "Custom" box he has it saying that he has an NVIDIA Quadro k2200, so nothing too too much.

Without the Quadro, the total power consumption is ~ 210 watts, and the Quadro uses ~ 75W.

Idk, maybe he'll upgrade to a K6000 sometime and those tend to take a bit more.

Maybe, but still, what if he decides not to? It depends entirely on their upgrade plan.

This is my first build by the way and i didnt know what gpu to get. I bought the power supply before i had a gpu. I just got a good price on it and i thought i would buy crazy gpu's like sli but then after researching about what programs i use most of them dont use sli so i went with a quadro.

I know its overkill but i got it on sale with a good rebate and i wanted a fully modular gold one. At the time in the partpicker list there were only two fully modular ones in my price range and this one was better rated and had more power for about the same price. So i got it and thought if i ever upgraded i would not need to worry.

Wow finally someone who uses a Quadro for what its for! Hows that beast of a card handling the renders and animations?

It is really good and can handle 3d well. In big 3d scenes my old card lagged badly and this one can handle them smoothly and also renders fast in everything adobe. Does everything i want, i think i chose a good card. Here is a project it rendered: https://www.behance.net/gallery/21295449/Pimp-My-Setup-Intro

They have a color problem with the nvidia graphics card but can be fixed by setting the refresh rate to 59.99. The bevel is supper thin though that is why i got them. They now have a glass finish version that my friend got that looks really good also. I like them and i hook my ps3 to them sometimes and they game fine. They have tons of inputs and you can custom the touch buttons to go between specific ones so you dont need a hdmi splitter. I am happy with them and am holding off untill 4k is cheaper.

I use softimage and xsi and do allot of the same work that it seems you do. Would this be a good build for me? I got somewhere in the neighborhood of 3000 as a budget and I need to build a new machine. I need some help. I'm awesome with the software but I need help building the software a home. :)

I havent heard of those programs, what do they do? I use Autodesk Maya, all the Adobe stuff, Sony Vegas pro and It runs everything fine. My pc itself was only $1000ish.

How are the monitors connected. I'm looking at getting this card for 3 monitors, but my current set up is VGA, DVI, and HDMI. I'm guessing I'll need 2 display port adapters, 1 for DVI & for HDMI.
