I've been wanting to build a PC for a while, and about 6 months ago I started on this one. I purchased the parts in the Netherlands, so it's a bit more expensive. I was unsure about the parts for quite a while before I pulled the trigger and started to purchase. I'm very happy with the result. I wanted the build to be very silent, and right now the only parts that really makes noise is the HDD.

I've tried a bit of overclocking, but I ended up using the automatic overclocking tool on my Gigabyte motherboard, which worked really well, and when I started to go any higher it would become unstable. For the gpu I just looked at the results other people got and went a little lower then that. I couldn't find the monitor on here, but this one is very close to the one I have, except that mine is 75hz.

I mostly play GTA 5 and Battlefield 1. I can play GTA 5 almost maxed out around 55-65fps, and I play Battlefield 1 on ultra with around 90fps, which is really smooth on 75hz. Freesync is really awesome, since you don't notice dips so you can set the settings higher.

In the future I plan on building a custom desk, and fully switching to SSD storage. I would also be interested in an nvme SSD, but those are a bit expensive. I also plan on getting a better looking cable to my GPU, because right now it looks quite ugly.

I like how you put the effort to climb up to your roof to take pictures of your PC

Gotta hit those stairs man....never skip leg day.

I agree that background is the best part of the pictures, well besides the beautiful rig you built. Nice job.

Nice clean build, are you playing gta 5 on 1440p or something? at 1080p on an ultrawide screen (slightly more demanding than normal widescreen) and I have roughly the same build as you (same cpu, same ram, and an asus fury) and I get on average 80+ fps with everything maxed out (apart from msaa which I set to 0, and I haven't touched any of the extended options) even in the most demanding areas like in the forests or in the center of the city it never dips below 80fps.

He's 1080p, but he probably has MSAA or some type of aliasing turned on. These settings tend to have the greatest impact.

I play with no aliasing and render scale on 1.75x, looks better in my opinion. I'm not sure wat my other advanced settings are at right now.

Pictures look nice, what camera did you use? And the setting of most of the pictures being on the roof gives a unique charm to the pictures, and the build itself is beautiful, mostly black and white with some red on the motherboard, as well as red lights, and overall is just plain clean. +1 for this beauty, that'll perform quite well.

Thanks! I used a Nikon D3300 with the 18-55mm kitlens.

Somerando 1 point 17 months ago

Why are there two Ethernet ports? Are you running Ethernet in SLI?

Great build with clean pictures! Shame about the GPU, could've gone for something like an Nvidia GPU, they are much better and high-end. But to each his choice ofcourse. Lit

Doublebow 1 Build 3 points 27 months ago

"could've gone for something like an Nvidia GPU" I take it you don't know how pc components work? something a 750ti is "an Nvidia GPU" and yet its much worse and low-end. Also of course he could have gone for a higher end card, but thats like saying, why did you get that vauxhaul astra when you could have gone for something more high end like a Bugatti Chiron, its not about whats available its about what you can afford and what you need, not everyone is a millionaire.

And anyways the fury is actually a cracking part for the money I've seen them go on sale for £260 brand new, in comparison to the same "new" gpus of that price such as the 1060 and 480 its a big jump.

PS1054205 2 points 27 months ago

the r9 fury is a good choice (especially for the price) its close to a 1060 6gb. I do agree the pictures are very nice. good job

lappel submitter 1 Build 2 points 27 months ago

Thanks! The Fury is actually better then the 1060, when overclocked its about 15-20% faster. The only downside is the 4gb vram.

Edit: This video compares it with the 1070, it actually comes quite close.

The fury is one of the best card under 300..
