Description

I bought the setup for work and play. For work, I have to use up to 7-10 applications including multiple web browsers. The triple monitors allows me to use NVidia's 2d surround. The screenshot is of BF3.

I bought everything from microcenter. They had some good deals going on and they negotiated with me a little to get the prices down on a couple of the items as well.

More pictures added ;) I'd take some of a PC, but the case and loadout isn't anything special.

Hows the Nvidia surround performance with one 770? Which settings are you running on BF3? Are you considering SLI down the road? Nice build for the price. Only thing I would change is getting an unlocked CPU (personal preference), but if you're not interested in overclocking, then totally understandable!

Great build!

I've been playing BF3 on Ultra settings and haven't had a hiccup. I'd be lying if I gave you an FPS number, I should know it but I haven't bothered activating the FPS ticker. I ended up turning some of the settings down on BF3 due to me not being able to distinguish friend from foe as easily as I could on the lower settings.

I did play PS2 on single monitor, since it doesn't work well on 2d surround, on the highest settings the FPS dipped down to 65 and peeked at 120. Nice thing about PS2, it will tell you the bottleneck and it was the CPU the whole time.

let me know when you have the fps number for bf3 surround. I'm interested to see how single nvidia stacks up. I have crossfire 7970s on my triple monitor build, and battlefield on ultra settings in eyefinity yields 70-120fps. I leave vsync on though, as my video cards dont have 3 displayport plugs, so there's some screen tearing on the dvi connected monitor when vsync is not on.

Well you seem to have me beat. I used BF3s Ultra Preset and the range was 35-50 when using the extended resolution.

When I brought it down to the Auto setting that I actually play, which uses a lot of medium settings, on it was 90-120.

i wish i had three monitors :(

This is literally identical to the build I am going to be doing but I don't have the money just yet to go through with it. Just wondering, is it a setting on the nvidia control panel to use all three monitors at once? Or is a separate program entirely.

Its a setting in the NVidia display app. They have a setup wizard that steps you through the process. Takes 30 seconds

I'm doing some wire management. Once I'm done I'll post some photos of behind the desk and PC.

is the BIOS for the mobo anything special?

I don't know what to compare it to besides the ancient BIOS that I have used in the past. I was surprised when it had a GUI that was usable with a mouse. I didn't spend much time in it. I just made sure it recognized the 16gig of mem and my 1TB data drive.

Very nice build. I'm not a exactly a gamer, but I've been curious about the 770 and how it handles 3 monitors as a single card.

It does pretty well. BF3 on Ultra ranges between 35-50 fps. I play on Auto which uses a couple ultra settings and the rest medium, (I can actually see things better in this mode) and it ranges between 90-120.

Which ports did you hook up the three monitors to? I'd like to leave a possibility of expanding up to three monitors with my current build, and I would like to know if I'll need an extra video card in SLI to handle them.

I'm using single card as shown. 2 DVI Ports and 1 HDMI Port. I'm using an DVI to HDMI cable due to my monitor not having HDMI.

I've never been into Overclocking, but its my understanding you have to plan for higher CPU temps. I wanted the Z87 incase I decided to change my mind. Plus microcenter doesn't carry the H87.

Cool cool thanks for the reply! The setup looks awesome haha

Ya with overclocking comes higher temps, don't have to an an extreme overclock though.

Y U NU IPS = why you not use IPS?

They are IPS monitors ;) PCPP has them listed incorrectly.

Some games like it while others don't. If the game will "allow" it the performance the 770 gives is fantastic.

PS2 for instance doesn't scale very well with it so I play single monitor with that.
