Description

Its been a little over 2 years now since my first ever pc build - https://pcpartpicker.com/b/4VXH99 . Since then i have grown to have a passion for building, upgrading, modding and trying to get my ulitmate gaming/sim racing rig.

This is my latest setup as it is right now, but i am constantly adding/changing things up as time goes by. What started out as a PC build that could handle triple screen sim racing titles, has turned into a custom watercooled high end setup that i always dreamed to own :)

I just want to know the cost on all that foam..... I've been looking to toss a bunch in my office.

  • 5 points

Acoustic foam such as this is only good for getting rid of the high end frequencies that reverberate in a room. For anything other than reducing the little shimmer you get when you clap your hands or type on your cherry MX blues, this sort of foam is mostly useless. But, for most people, that is fine. I would recommend buying the stuff from Aliexpress. Most of the branded stuff is greatly overpriced, and performs no differently. Also, do not buy foam bass traps, they do absolutely nothing. The only products that should be used for bass-trapping or serious room acoustic treatment is fiberglass or synthetic polyesters especially made for acoustic treatment.

  • 3 points

Well they look cool

  • 2 points

Yeah if you place them nicely, they can make a room look really nice. If I had serious money though, the best looking acoustic treatment is from Vicoustic. My god. One day...

Oh wow I didnt notice until I after I read your post. I just bought som Auralex 2" SonoFlat Panel 4 pack for $25. Ots 4 square feet total. Not the same design or color, but I hope that helps.

That room has a ton of the mid and high level reveb cancelling foam.

Wow, what a dream build man, just looks amazing.

Some of the top things in this build, IMO

  • Singularity Core res mount, just looks outstanding
  • It looks like you went with an extra long EK Res tube added on to the Res 140 D5, great decision
  • I spy some Mnpctech billet combs, again, outstanding
  • Totally dig the new front acrylic fascia

What kind of monitor mount did you use to have that 4th monitor hooked up like that?

Ergotech freedom arm, mounted to a piece of wood that i screwed into the triple monitor mount frame.

It's very enlightening. I actually never thought evolv can fit all those rads.

Edit: The rad at the top, is it fanless?

  • 3 points

There is a top cavity between rad tray and case frame that can be modded to fit fans in between. Requires cutting alot of metal though :(

  • 1 point

Could you possibly elaborate on how you modded the case to fit the fans? I'm about to do a build in the same case, and I need to figure out the best to fit the fans above the radiator. A picture with the top of the case removed would be very helpful.

Hi from OCN!

Pretty much my dream setup right there (sans the purple). I've already got the water cooled Evolv and Fanatec CSW setup, I just need the rest, namely a dedicated room. What kind of frame rates are you getting with the triple screens in racing sims (iRacing, AC, pCARS, DiRT Rally Etc)?

  • 1 point

Rgb everything, i can actually change the color setup lol. iRacing gets maxed out, AC and pcars normally stay between 100fps + range on max settings

Your name looks famliar might have seen your posts on one of the Sim racing sites :)

  • 2 points

That's pretty solid FPS for 5760x1080. I am trying to figure out the ideal triple screen setup. How much screen tearing do you experience (or do you run vsync)? VR is another option, but they have to work out the bugs.

One item I would recommend, is the Sennheiser GSX1000 with your Beyerdynamic DT770 Pros. The GSX has really really good surround sound emulation (like forget all previous attempts at the tech). I see you already have small monitors, but I think you would be really impressed by the GSX. Probably not worth it at $225 list, but some places like Overstock have it at like $160 sometimes.

Also, for the CSP V3s, I would highly recommend, if you don't have it already, the dampener kit and the upgraded PU foam. IMO I found the stock brake way too spongy and weak and actually went back to my V2 setup with upgraded shock and spring. But the V3 w/dampener and foam is great.

I am on GTPlanet, GAF, OCN, etc. I think I saw your build on OCN. Feel free to add me on Steam.

  • 1 point

i run vsync off, theres very minimal screen tearing. Yea VR is the best option but for sim racing its not quite there yet. Ive only tried the Vive, everything looks amazing up close but once you start looking out into the track the resolution is horrible. Ive read the oculus is better when it comes to sim racing but the issue is still there just not as bad.

Ive seen hardwarecanuks review on the GSX1000, ill have to look more into that. So far im pretty happy with the DT770 and micca orgen+ dac/amp.

Yea id like to try the PU foam but i messed up the bolts on the V3 when i inverted them. The aluminum is soft and i guess the allen key i used might have been a little stripped too but the bolts stripped so i cant take it apart anymore lol.

AMAZING JOB, THIS BUILD IS BEAUTIFUL!

  • 2 points

Sweet build! How did you mount the NZXT Hue on the top of the case? I mounted mine to the hidden SSD/HDD tray, because it didn't mount to the pump bracket all that well, and it couldn't mount to the front SSD tray because of its screw layout. Did you screw it down at all? or is it just "free" in the case?

  • 2 points

Thanks, i mounted it with double sided tape lol

  • 1 point

Ahh, gotcha. I move around with my PC a lot (LANs, back and fourth from home to Uni) So I can't leave it loose in the case. I might try and mount it to the top of the basement with screws, haha. I am still mad that the Corsair Commander Mini fan controller has NO screws at all, and I can't mount it for fear I might accidently drill through its circuitry inside. So I sloppily left it loose in the basement for now, lol.

  • 1 point

if you use strong double sided tape im pretty sure it will hold well since the hue hub is pretty light as well. not sure about the fan controller but i would think the same as long as you clean it well before applying the double sided tape.

  • 2 points

I gently screwed it in from the underside. Was a massive pain in the ***, and it is ~5 degrees tilted, but whatever. It is pretty bright, but looks pretty cool up there. I may move it back if it gets annoying.

The fan controller has some foam stickers, so I used those for now, I guess time will tell whether they stay on or not!

  • 2 points

Also, where did you put that HDD?

  • 2 points

i the included single hdd bracket and mounted it in the slots next to psu, its a tight fit and a pain to remove/install but i really wanted a longer reservoir and 280mm rad.

  • 2 points

whoa, wait you mounted it to the pump screw area between the secret HDD holder and PSU, or you crammed it into the secret HDD holder and dismantled it a bit? (I tried front mounting a 280mm AIO, but the sides of the secret HDD bracket stopped me from doing that since I needed a spot for an 3.5in HDD.)

  • 1 point

hmm not sure which one is the secret hdd holder. i took out the regular 2 bay hdd bracket out and used this mounting bracket http://www.phanteks.com/PH-HDDKT.html .

What kind of FPS are you getting with 4 monitors on the one card? I have two 1080's and have been thinking of adding two more 144hz Monitors for an uber wide setup but don't want to sacrifice FPS.

  • 1 point

the 3 monitors are really only used for sim racing games, ive tried playing games like gta v, the screen real estate with 3 monitors was to much for me to handle in titles like that haha. A majority of my gaming is on the top monitor in single screen.

I tested Rise of the tomb raider in 5760 x 1080 on max settings and the titan x hits between 60-80fps

As a non-gamer, I've always wanted an obutto for iracing. The way jayz described his friend playing on VR and how realistic it sounded/felt just made me want to get into it. One day when the money allows and I have a bigger computer room.

Also, screw anyone that has a Micro Center nearby lol.

  • 2 points

out of all the cockpit rigs ive seen obutto has been my favorite. Design, ergonomics, look, price and accessories.

Been looking into a VR setup i borrowed a friends HTC vive for a week and it was amazing, but as Jayz also said certain titles really show the screen door effect and sim racing is one of them. Gonna see what the 2nd Gen Vive and oculus do to improve the VR experince. But it definetly has a future.
