Description

Franky is a custom computer I ordered a while back, and the video card has died and replaced with a older model (Geforce 210) and the hard drives are a bit slow. I am just looking to swap out the older parts with the computer, then possibly build my own down the line (when I can afford to) with the "newer" parts.

Older Drives (2 currently): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136014

So for now I have decent RAM 16GB "Corsair", but could use some suggestion on the drives and card. I do Video Editing and Gaming, for now I just need a system to do both moderately well until I can get a new system. My questions is

(*) The 970 would is work on this motherboard and power supply, I heard it is backward compatible with the 2.0 PCI-Express x16 slot?

I would appreciate any suggestions within those limits, thanks so much!

P.S. Yes I know yes he does need a good cleaning :D.

I do agree it needs to be cleaned out and the cables need to the "dressed" and organized. That will happen once I but the new parts, this is how the job was done by a local tech who fixed the computer and put the video card in.

970 is pricey. Get a 280. Do you really need all that storage?

I need the two drives, I can get away with a 1TB to store video (on the secondary drive) as I work on it. I am thinking about getting two SSHD instead of the SSD, to save a bit there.

Which 280 model do you recommend? I would consider it although I'm partial to Nvidia cards.
