Description

My last build was about six years ago and it was time for an upgrade. I wanted to build something that looked as good as it ran, so finding the right parts for power and style was very important. My last build was in a junky Cooler Master case with noisy fans, not this time sir. I spent about 3 weeks pouring over parts night and day and changed the build more times than I care to remember.

H440- Best looking case IMO.

i7 4790k- It was a toss up between this and the i5 4690k. in the end I decided to just spend the extra money.

Asus Sabertooth Mark 1- Originally was a Maximus VII Formula, I wanted the armor bad. I ended up with the Mark 1 to squeeze some more money out of my budget. I'm not disappointed at all.

Corsair Dominator Platinum- I found them in a google search or "sabertooth mark 1 and h440" found a build someone else did that I loved, it had these with the light kit. That picture also ended up being a the bases of my build.

NZXT Kraken x61- Honestly, it came down to the LED on the pump.

GTX 970 w/reference cooler- One retailer in the US has these. I really wanted something with an LED logo and a back plate. Not only did these have both but it also fit perfectly in the design.

That's the meat right there. everything else is self explanatory. Started with a red/black build and end up building this awesome white/black/gray machine.

Edit: All finished!! This thing looks killer, thanks for all the comments guys!

I'd recommend sanding the green paint off of your 970s, it would really fit in with the build. Storage seems a little low, but really nice build overall.

Yeah I mentioned in the disruption that I was going to that. I just wanted to make sure they worked first.

Damn, that's a nice looking window (last 2 pics). I like how the gpu power cord lines mirror the RAM lines and that you covered up (or removed) the tag on the SLI bridge. Details matter.

This is one of the nicest build I've ever seen.

How's the cooling of those 970's in the H440? I currently have the STRIX 970 on my list for a future build in the H440 but the reference 970's just look much better in the White H440 case.

Damn nice looking build. I think you'll want to go for a 240GB SSD though; not for music or video storage, but because you'll want room to enjoy quite a few games on your monster build. +1 for the classic, simple, timeless construction.

Holy ****, that's nice...

+1, wondering why you didn't go for SLI 980's, but your choice, I guess. That cooler goes perfectly with everything else in the Build, nothing here that I would change.

Probably because these perform pretty amazing for the price and he didn't want to fork out another ~$400 for the 980's. These would probably be perfect for 1080p @144hz.

This. I went over budget enough as it was. The upgrade in performance wasn't enough to justify the huge price increase.

This turned out pretty great, nice build!

I was really torn betweeen the Asus Mark 1 and the Asus Maximus VII Hero, I'm going with the Hero, hope I don't regret it.

Have you thought about painting your armor white? It really looks good. http://imgur.com/a/ANEil

I started with the the Hero in my build. Then I decided I had to have the armor, it's just too tasty looking. I've seen the armor painted but I like the stock in mine, it keeps the inside simple and clean.

How would you compare the features and sound on two?

I'd take those gpu in my rig for sure. Nice build. Perhaps I should re do my cables a bit.

+1 Thanks for posting. This is almost my exact build I'm putting together. How is the heat?

I idle around 24, but I had to RMA a fan so I haven't gotten crazy with it yet. I think the reference coolers do a lot for this case though.

So very very clean sexy and simple. Reference 970s look AMAZING in this! This deserves more attention IMHO. Grats mate excellence all the way around.

What type of overclocka are you getting on your SLI'ed 970s? I own the same (see my build) and I am only able to get like 1465Mhz clock and 7900Mhz on the memory. No voltage increase, great build BTW +1.

Still waiting on my RMA'd fan so I haven't dug into overclocking yet. I probably won't mess with the gpus too much though. At least not until I get a new monitor, or 3 :)

Planning to get the official NVIDIA SLI Bridge? I just got mine in today (uploaded new photos). I will keep it on for now, may go back to the EVGA one though.

I love this build! I recently built on similar to this. I currently only have on GTX 970, but plan on upgrading and putting another one of those bad boys in SLI. I don't have everything upgraded, I plan on doing a lot of upgrading when I get my next pay check. This is what mine will look like when everything's upgraded, http://pcpartpicker.com/user/TheQuadSquad/saved/gGpNnQ.

Hello

  • 1 point

Actually the UK was the only place I saw them for sale for the longest time before I found them at best buy. One of your major electronic retailers had them, though the name escapes me. Sorry man, wish I could be more help.

You might wanna consider buying a 1TB HDD. Your choice though. More space for all you games and programs.

I dont need a ton of space, all my music and videos are on my laptop and I have a 5gb backup.
