My first build coming from an old Dell XPS system. Wanted a rig for work and play. Plan on throwing in another 980 soon and eventually a couple of Pascals. Grabbing a 4K monitor next month.
Sticking with a 24/7 stable 4.2 Ghz CPU overclock, and 2800 on the RAM. Deepcool 360 does a great job under load keeping her cool. Before you ask about the 1300W monster PSU... I got it on sale for a really good price, 25% off for $160 total and it also had a $30 rebate, so it came out to being $130 before tax. The 1000G2 costs ~$150 and the 850W ~$130 so it was a simple decision at that point of the build. Also, there is a comfort knowing I'm covered down the road on 3-way SLI.
Being my first build, when I was finished, I realized I had so much fun and the sense of accomplishment, I wanted to do another. Alas, maybe in a few years.
(Update) on 9/28/17 dumped the 980's for an EVGA 1080Ti Hybrid and threw in 16 more GB a RAM. Also stepped up to a Dell 34" 21:9 monitor.
