Run of the mill HTPC built for value.
You might want to consider upgrading to the A10-6800k , it's a nice PSU for the price.
This was built a while back, I got $40 off the CPU/Motherboard combo at my local Micro Center...were I to build another one now I would get a similar deal on the 6800.
Looks good, maybe get some zipties and clean it up a bit, but other than that, nice build.
I'm notoriously untidy with cables, even with zip ties. What I usually do is check temps under stress to determine if the airflow is adequate to cool the components and leave the beauty pageants to folks that are building their own PC. =)
For $540...kinda seems high for the use. I think $450 is a better range for a basic HTPC, but it'll be extremely fast.
Knock $40 off for a Micro Center motherboard/CPU combo, $5 off the price of the case as i got it for $39, $24 off the operating system and almost $30 off the memory, which I purchased when memory prices tanked. This puts the cost much closer to your number. =)
you can manually set the prices. This might make your build get even more love.
Ah, duly noted...I haven't been on the site in a while. Nice feature.
I wanted to know how is the system staying cool without a case fan and why there is no sound card?
if you look next to the power supply you'll see the case's intake fan. The cool air is then drawn downward and outward by the CPU fan and the majority of exhaust is likely done by the power supply's fan or dissipation through ventilation on top of the case. Not an ideal setup by any means...but it isn't a high-heat rig.
I did not feel the need to add a sound card since the motherboard has integrated sound and the mission was to keep it simple.
I would consider replacing that psu. It has a pretty good rep for failure.
Duly noted, I've had decent luck with them if you don't push them hard.
woah, i just noticed. 25 builds, thats crazy.
Yes haha, he hasn't posted in a while :P welcome back mate!
Mother of god
I own a computer store =)
