Description

This is a pure gaming machine, and it does it well. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. But my girlfriend hates it. :(

I guess I have to ask... why does your girlfriend hate it?

Because he's spent an insane amount on a PC and not her. I know which one I'd rather have!

If your girlfriend hates it, I either get the computer or the girlfriend. You choose.

I want to work where ever it is that you work so i can have the cash flow to build a similar gaming pc!!

  • 3 points

I just built it as i went along. I did not buy everything all at once. I knew i wanted something like this so i would just buy a component whenever i could, and waited on parts to go on sale. You can get some good deals and a monster rig with a little bit of patience.

  • 3 points

if it were possible for patience to exist with me, then i would have a nice gaming rig right now lol

I dont plan on sticking with one monitor, if i did the 3 680s would be a little bit redundant.

Get some 1440p stuff!

1600p lol.

I considered this monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824260028

But the 120hz with the BenQ drew me in. Plus i wanted to try my hand at 3d gaming. Which i now think is just a gimmick. But it can be fun from time to time.

Once you go 120hz you can't go back.

Not quite, i do game my fair share, which is the reason my girlfriend hates it.

  • 1 point

also why not a titan

  • 12 points

I had 2 680s before the titans release, not to mention 2 680s beats a titan in every benchmark. Then i got the 3rd 680 for pretty cheap. The Titans price tag does not match its performance. It should be a $750 card max.

wat makes all the lights...... and can u make them blue ?

  • 1 point

The lights at the top and bottom are just led strips with a 3 pin fan header soldered to them. The white lights in the middle come from the RAM lighting. Those can be changed with aftermarket lights.

Holy ****. This looks amazing! Did you build it?

EDIT: Why is your third 680 not watercooled?

  • 1 point

I did build it and the 3rd 680 isnt water cooled yet, the water block is on the way i just picked up the 3rd card this weekend. I will update with more pictures once the third block is installed.

Nice but why go with windows 8?

  • 3 points

I actually like windows 8, it has better performance than windows 7 and a lot of cool features. If you can get over the start menu issue it is a great operating system. Not to mention I am a computer technician and i had to learn windows 8 to be able to help assist customers.

Buy 2 more monitors, and you'll still be at 120hz+

AWESOME BUILD! I love how you say it does 'well' as if you expected it to be so good it would make your awesomeness level skyrocket. :P

How do you have your hard drives arranged? one massive array? i assume the matching pro 128's are stripped in RAID 0 but what have you got going on with the others?

  • 1 point

The 128s are in Raid 0 as my boot drive. The other 2 drives are just data drives. The 512 is used for steam and the 128 is used for Origin.

Hey Synthet1X, what exactly is the difference between the BenQ XL2420T and the XL2420TX?

  • 1 point

Waste of money im my opinion if it is strictly for gaming. Yes you'll be future proof for some time, but you'll want to religiously clean that pc out from dust particles every week or so. I'd just spent half of that and saved the rest in a saving account for upgrades in the future. I am a bit biased though because I am jelly. =p

cuttin it close with only a 1000W PSU? other than that, amazing build.

Where did you get the red liquid?

  • 0 points

Sorry, bro! But 5ms monitor can not be a gaming monitor. For gaming response time must be 1ms and 2ms only.

  • 1 point

lol you realize the BenQ 2420t is the top gamining monitor in the world used by multiple professional leagues.

The third water block is on its way for the gpu i just picked up the 3rd card this weekend. It will be water cooled next week. And she is jealous because i spend time with it sometimes instead of her :).

HORRIBLE cable management!!!!!!! jk

I could critisize the RAM or the CPU(3820 would suffice for gaming) but in the end this rig doesn't look to have been built with practicality in mind and there is something to be said for overkill.

  • 3 points

It would be a crime to put a locked processor into a build like this. There would be no reason to have a dedicated water loop and 3 GPU's and then have a locked processor. This build was overkill, but that was the point.

  • 0 points

The 3820 is different. Unlike other non 'K' processors its muliplier is partially unlocked. It actually overclocks quite well. I have mine overclocked to 4.7Ghz. For this build the processor is about right. The processor is overkill but so is the rest of the build. I wasn't saying that this is an aweful build, I was merely stating that it is way overkill for a gaming build but that was the whole point.

It's a waste of perfectly good performance to drop a ton of money on multiple GPUs and then NOT go socket 2011.
