Those temperatures look off on the GPU. Only 2 degree difference with load?

Would love to hear some thoughts behind the build in a description. Why the 870?

The 870 doesn't exist.

EDIT: Oh, talking about CPU. This was probably an update over a previous build. Lynnfield isn't a bottleneck - yet.

yeah i was really curious because I saw that and was very curious. For the price point of this build it's way over priced.

I assumed it was an updated build, but that i7 is getting mighty old.

Right, idk why he got 2 770s but didnt get a new cpu. I mean hes not gonna get the full performence of the 2 gpus with the old i7

I have a i7-920 and it holds up fine to everything :) I have mine at 4.2Ghz and only about 50c under load!

You have 470s.....he has 770s

Last years i5-3470 is better than a i7-920. The generation of CPUS from 2008 don't stack up well today.

I'm aware of that. This was a massive upgrade project. The original parts are: The CM case, mainboard, memory, CPU, PSU, cooler, and the 640G HDDs. (Also the keyboard, mouse, and headphones).

I will be upgrading the mainboard and CPU (and RAM if required) after the heat from the wife cools down a bit!

I am definitely open to suggestions.

It depends....if you like flashy things go for asrock, gigabyte or asus, thats for the motherboards. And for ram good companys are corsair g. Skill or kingston. For a cpu, get a 4770k cuz you have 2 gpus and for the bragging rights.

Get a 4770k for the bragging rights? He'd be much better off going with a 2011 socket cpu for the sli performance.

Appears to me this is a mx of scrap and new parts. If it isn't those are some bad choices.

That's what was in there when I bought the system partially made by someone else. Don't worry, I've replaced it now.
