Description

Well it was a lot of fun setting this computer up. It is my first computer that i have built. I'm sure you're wondering why i have such a crappy graphics card with such a nice cpu, well it's becuase i only play League of Legends and some steam games and the i7 was on sale for $200(i was originally going to pay that amount for the i5). So i'm a happy camper right now. I'm still working on the cable management. I lan on upgrading my graphics card once I start playing bigger titles.

07-25-2015 Upgraded my graphics card to the Sapphire Dual-X R9 280 OC Edition. $149.99

Windows Score: 7.8

Your RAM appears to be placed incorrectly, but other than that, nice build. :)

Guess he didn't consult the manual :(

Indeed.

I did, i originally placed the RAM in DIMM1 and DIMM2, but i checked the manual and i re-arranged them to DIMM1 and DIMM3. (however the pictures show otherwise.)

Sorry for the confusion.

According to my mobo, it said for dual channel RAM... i was to put one in dimm2 and the other in dimm4, but i put them in as dimm1 and dimm3. Is that correct?

thanks :)

Yea, that's fine. It's just that in the first few pics of the RAM, they were in slots 1 and 2.

Happy gaming. :)

yeah that micro center deal was insane. I almost jumped on it but i had to resist. But if i did i would have also gotten that msi board, love the looks of it.

Overall i really like your build and the price that you got it for. 1100 for a full solution that is very very upgradeable. I mean that build is just asking for a 780 ti LOL.

+1

Agreed about the 780ti. :D

Nice build! If you were only planning to play LoL, you could have gotten something like an fx 6300. Even an i5 is wayy overkill for that game.

He bought it on sale when it was just as much as an i5. It looks like it was on sale for just below the i5-4670k according to his custom price.

I know that. I was saying he didn't even have to go for an i5

Yeah, I believe it. That was my original plan(no lie). My budget was originally smaller but towards the end it was huge. I love my set-up. It's wicked fast and i can multi-task up the wazoo and never have to wait on anything. I appreciate the feedback and will deff be building another computer for a friend here soon. I was planning on suggesting the fx-6300.

thanks :)

It is one of the best value-for-money cpus on the market at the moment.

Your computer seems to be floating or maybe the pictures aren't rotated.

Why spend $1164 to play LOL? You could have done that for half the price.

Haha, i know. I just really wanted a nice computer. I was sick of celeron's or dual core 1.6ghz cpu crap. I really wanted a nice computer. I'm very happy with my build and i learned a lot. I will upgrade in the future and of course buy some more graphic intense games. Hopefully start streaming and then edit video. As of right now i have pre-ordered Theif. That's my next big title, and i might get BF4.

thanks :)

hmm. I would have went with a 6350/6300 and a cheaper mobo to get a huge GPU in there, but the i7 was a very good deal! +1

This makes zero sense to me...

You spent 1,100 dollars and you have a crappy graphics card.

You have wasted tons of money, no offence.

You wasted money on liquid cooling when that could have given you a 7870 XT, that would have lasted you for such a long time even if you just play only league of legends.

Regardless you already bought it, but in case you ever do more builds in the future you have to really not waste so much on a processor especially when you aren't even making us of it.

he explained why his gpu is lacking and why he got the 4770k, read the description.

He got a great deal on the processor even though he may not be taking advantage of it now, he's good for few years before an upgrade. As far as foregoing the water cooling for better video card...maybe. He would've had to have kept the stock cooler in order to get a 7870 now. In any case, he got a decent deal on the water cooler and he can now OC his CPU if he chooses to.

i understand u completely. As i stated above, the card is really only for smaller games that are not graphic heavy. I had a tighter budget at the time when i first bought the graphics card. But i earned more money than i had planned, so i ended up getting better stuff and not worrying about the card since i already had it. And the only reason i got the i7 was because of the micro center deal they had. I couldn't resist. I may not use it to it's full potential but heck ITS SO FAST and i love it.
