Description

This is my first build, and I wanted to be able to play games at high/ultra settings at 1440p when I built this - and I can. I wanted a PC that could do almost anything I wanted. The i7-4790K is great, really fast, and usually stays around 30 degrees with the H100i. I haven't tried overclocking it yet, but I might soon. I didn't need 16 GB of ram, but I am considering getting another 8 GB. The SSD is really fast, boots into Windows in seconds. The HDD is easily large enough for anything I need to store. The GPUs are great, can run Far Cry 4 at 1440p on ultra settings, and they barely get past 50/60 degrees. In Far Cry 3, they get really hot on the same settings though... Case is fine, enough room for everything, pretty quiet, and the windows lets me see the parts, which is nice. PSU is powerful enough for both GPUs and everything else. I only needed a cheap CD drive to install Windows. Reasonably cheap wireless adapter too, didn't need anything expensive, and it works fine. I replaced the H100i's fans because I heard they were a bit loud, and the Noiseblockers are really quiet, and cool the CPU well. I didn't want to spend a lot on a keyboard, so I just got a relatively cheap one. The mouse can be a bit unresponsive at times, so I'm thinking of getting a new one. The monitor is pretty good, by far the cheapest 1440p monitor I could find, however it takes a few seconds to turn on after sleeping or turning the computer on, but that's not a big problem. I don't think it cost this much when I built it, I'm pretty sure it cost a bit less. I posted this 7 months late, I completely forgot when I built it. As I said, this is my first build, so any comments are welcome :-)

OMG your build is gorgeous! BTW why didn't you get a blue coloured motherboard since your whole rig is blue, white and black. +1 For dem 290s VAPOR X, I swear these cards are the most beefiest and the best looking card out there, btw I have a r9 290 Toxic edition and I wished I bought the Vapor X.

Thanks! I wanted red bits as well as blue/white/black, and there are red LEDs as well as the red areas of the motherboard (some hidden by the GPUs), and I set the LED on the H100i to cycle through blue, red, white, and off as well. I chose the Vapor-X over the Toxic specifically for the colour, I only found out it actually cools better after! I'm also thinking of replacing the rear exhaust fan with a red LED fan, because there isn't really that much red.

Get a nice optical mouse and your responsiveness issues will disappear. I personally use a Mionix Naos 7000 and love it.

Hey - awesome build!!! I know you said the 850W PSU is fine for the 290's. Have you had any issues at all? Im thinking about adding another 290x to my system and have the same PSU. Thanks!

I was only going to get another 8 GB anyway, I don't need more than 16 GB
