Description

dnt worry I dnt have all those fans in my PC....yet lol yea I put 2 on the h100i to light up the inside a little bit 2 in the front an 1 in the back wen I get a magnetic dust cover or somethn for the bottom I'll put the last 1 there... So this was my first build ever and no 1 was around to help me so I was nervous as hell wen I first tried to boot it up absolutely nothing happened so I started ******** bricks but then I got ahold of myself n just went over the wiring n it started right up the only thing is my mother board didn't come with a SLI cable so for now there's only 1 gpu but in the end a extremely rewarding experience I will put pictures up tomorrow I'm on my phone rite now and I'm installing and downloading drivers and steam and I just want play games but yea pics tomarrow for sure

Decent build, but the 660 sli isn't the best idea. you could've gotten r9 290 at that price point.

Cool thanks for the input idk if the r9 was having the same promotion but I got a free copy of watch dogs. But yea in future for upgrades or a new build I will prolly just go with a single stronger card

Could have gotten a 770 too... or even a 780 with a bit more money or a sale. Still get watchdogs.

I only see one 660... Also I am gonna be the grammar kid here, please right full words. I really don't understand shortening words edit:I see the thing about SLI

Its a good build but there are two things I would change: 1) Single GPU > Two in most cases... as others mentioned R9 290 would have been a better choice. 2) Thats alot of money for a case. The max I would have spent on a case for this budget is £90. The savings could have been spent on getting an SSD. i.e. add £10 and get a 120Gb Samsung 840 evo. Personally I have my eye set on a Corsair obsidian 450d.

I'm a bit new to PC Building so if my question is bad I'm sorry. How come you needed 2 graphics cards instead of just one?

ibarra3116 submitter 1 Build 1 point 51 months ago

I'm new to building too haha I went with 2 cuz I like the looks mostly but I seen videos on youtube showing it out performing 680's but the r9 was not even on my radar not because I dont like it but mostly because I didn't bother to look at them because I'm a noob n didn't explore all my options I guess you could say

I love Jetflo's!

liquidarchon 9 Builds 0 points 51 months ago

Love it, although i personally would've gone with a 4gb gtx 770 instead of 2 660's +1

Akut 1 Build 4 points 51 months ago

that's in R9 290 territory.

istealunderwear 9 Builds 4 points 51 months ago

It is and r9 290 is much better than 770 even 4gig version lol. And It's same price.

liquidarchon 9 Builds 1 point 51 months ago

Actually the 770 is neck and neck with the r9 290 in gaming but pulls ahead in compute performance. Making it the better choice of the two.

istealunderwear 9 Builds 1 point 51 months ago

What??? No not at all, the 290 outright wrecks the 770 both in gaming and compute preformace, the 770 only has a 256bit interface while the 290 has a 512bit interface. lol

THe 290 has 64 Shader units while the 770 only has 32 290 has 160 texture mapping units while the 770 only has 128 The 290 also have over a 1000 more shaders than the 770..

The only benchmkark the 770 beats the 290 is OpenGL In open OpenCL the 290 outright quadruables the 770 preformance.

at 1080p 770 vs 290, and that might be the only reason why to get a 770, and that's the only reason, I myself, have a 770 and it preforms great. At 1080p crank up the resolution and the 256bit interface and only 2gigs of vram starts to struggle.

At 4k the 290 also beats the 780.

I'm in no way shape or form biased when it comes to this, I'll just defend whatever i know is the best idea. Hell last gen i had a 7970ghz and the only reason i didn't like that card was because it had some stuttering issues. And since I wasn't playing at 1440p i dicided to make a switch for a 770 since I does aswell as the 7970 ghz at 1080p

And with the current pricing the 290 just IS the best option for the money.

I've looked everywhere and I can not find any evidence that supports your claims. You also get what you pay for, from what I am hearing the r9 has cooling problems.
