Description

Sorry for the lack of description!

So this PowerMac G5 was rescued from work when it was decommission from workgroup manager duties. It then got upgrade with a RAID card and served as my in house fileserver. A few years passed and i decided that a 500watt workstation made a poor fileserver for 2 people in energy costs. So a Synology replaced it.

I spent the past few months picking up parts here and there and did the build after we moved home from London. The G5 conversion kit was from LaserHive. this was my first major modding.

I dual boot with CloverEFI and yes the ram in the photo is in the wrong slots (it has been fixed!).

Two things:

1) Your RAM appears to be placed incorrectly.

2) A description would be most welcome.

Other than that, I absolutely love it. I've been trying to find a G5 for cheap so I can mod it and have a PC inside. :p

Agreed. Love to hear more about the build/mod. Some more pictures would be great too.

If osx recognizes 16 gigs, isnt it ok?

They were in different banks so getting FULL performance would require them both to be in bank 0 or 1.

As Blood Monkey said, a good description would be nice. It would answer some of my questions.

+1 for a nice build though

Description please. But I love the mod. I would do one of these if g5d were cheaper.

Try looking on craigslist/ebay for used ones. I know a guy selling one for $100, granted it has a P4 in it, but all you really want is the case anyways. :p

None! I bought from IPSLEDMonitors and got the 3 year warranty. $400 shipped. I have one stuck green pixel, but i can only see it if the screen is black. Really hard to spot.

Thanks!

The case is a bit of a pain due to the lack of cable management, but it is just another challenge to overcome!
