Description

After a LOT of changes from Black Eye V1.5, I've finally settled on a system that is worthy of a new iteration. Since V1.5 I've upgraded to Ryzen, upgraded/replaced my monitor(s) multiple times, and got a few of the other things I was planning to get from the last version.

Part Reviews

CPU

A massive upgrade from my 6600k. Games run at more or less the same FPS but at a significantly smoother rate due to the extra threads not maxing out like on my i5. Kinda crazy to be able to buy a 6c/12t cpu for the price of an i3 from just two generations ago.

CPU Cooler

I've had this thing for about two years and it's still running cool and quiet, no complaints here.

Motherboard

So far, so good. It's got a bunch of Fan connectors, a solid VRM, and significantly improved software from my old AsRock 970 board.

Memory

OC'd to 2666 with no instability. 10/10

Video Card

Replacement for my 480 Nitro and 580 GTS. Runs cooler and quieter than both of my previous cards at the cost of a couple of extra watts at the wall.

Case

Minimalist, quiet, and decent for airflow, not much more to say about it.

Monitor

No, this thing doesn't have that great of an HDR implementation but doesn't look terrible in BF1 or Destiny 2. For the money, getting IPS, 75hz, and freesync, it's a good deal(especially if you use the $50 off student coupon at Microcenter)

Mmmmh GT40, nice

Nice build. Have you tried streching freesync range to get lfc work?

JayFragz submitter 5 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

Thanks! I haven't even bothered to extend the range mostly due to the fact the 580 is so fast and there are very few(if any) games that would drop under 40 fps at this res.

Hi dude, i am getting a 450$ build and i wanna get this motherboard. There is one other guy that built it and says its software sucks and i will need overclocking fkr my apu... and on newegg all reviews or most say it freezes and stops working, can you keep me informed if it does stop working or does it suck or its good?

JayFragz submitter 5 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

Software is definitely mediocre but useful for fan control and fast booting. As far as freezing or any other problems, I haven't had any outside of a few freezes on an unstable OC. This was fixed by changing the windows power plan to "Balanced". Overall, I think you'll be fine with an APU. Good luck with your build!

Thanks dude! Im getting a gpu later on hope it does just as well. What i meant is does it overclock well? Because thats my only chance of playing on good settings

JayFragz submitter 5 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

Never went past 4.1Ghz 1.275v. I could probably go further but I can't be bothered.

Zhiaaa 2 points 5 months ago

Thats very good.. no need for more as i never used a good pc in my life i probably will like render times on sony vegas with it

Zhiaaa 2 points 5 months ago

But how did you get it for 50$?

JayFragz submitter 5 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

Microcenter bundle. Got this and the CPU for $200.

Zhiaaa 1 point 5 months ago

Damn. I dont live in the us, i wanna opt for a b350 but im sure it wont work even if it has the 2000 series ready sticker it isnt confirmed to work. And i pay 25$ for atx mobo shipping and 18$ for matx, can you reccomend any cheaper but good oc boards for ryzen? 50-70$?

JayFragz submitter 5 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

For that kind of money, I honestly can't think of any mATX boards that are worth while outside of the one I have. Sorry.

Zhiaaa 2 points 5 months ago

No problem, thanks. I might get this one as its future proof

Looks like a pretty beefy CPU cooler my dude - have you managed to get the elusive 4.2Ghz OC on the 2600 yet?

JayFragz submitter 5 Builds 2 points 4 months ago

After about a month I just left it stock and let Precision boost take care of it. Going from 3.9 to 4.2ghz does nothing in real world scenarios. The only worthwhile overclocking om Ryzen is memory and only with a beefy GPU.

EvanMedi001 1 point 4 months ago

its worth the trouble to get it to 4.2/4.3 OC, it won't be a world differen but considering that more CPU heavy games are droping to market, you might wanna have a second go at it

JayFragz submitter 5 Builds 1 point 4 months ago

Again, unless I upgrade to a beefier card like a vega 56 or gtx 1080 then I won't see and actual difference. The extremely small difference(that can only be seen on a graph and not in a real world scenario) between the stock vs OC is not at all worth the higher thermals, noise, and power consumption.

How are your temps with the 580 and the small ITX case?

JayFragz submitter 5 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

It's actually an mATX case, but the temps never go over 70-75 and stays fairly quiet.

Farex 1 point 2 months ago

Thanks! Temps seem good, I am looking to get the Nitro + for a Mini ITX case and was looking for similar builds, but it looks like you have good airflow! :)
