Hello all!

This is my very first PC build and im excited to share! This PC is meant for gaming and has really, really surprised me so far! I had a Aperture Science sticker that is now on this build, and it looks awesome! (In the pics don't mind the walls, doing reno's)

---CPU--- Now when people hear "Intel i3" they mostly think, "well that's sh!t". This is not the case. The Intel Core i3-4130 should win an award for the sheer amount of bada$$ery this little CPU has, id say one of the most underrated processors ever. HyperThreading gives this little monster a HUGE benefit!

---MOBO--- Ok well you must be thinking "Who the hell puts an i3 in a $250 MOBO?!", here are my reasons for this! 1) I got it for free 2) I got it for free 3) I got it for free As you can see it should all make sense now! I do plan to throw in an i5/i7 at a later date when I have more $$$

---Memory--- I have to say this is probably the sexiest memory I have ever seen... It doesn't exactly match my MOBO but it sure as hell matches my case! I really like how Kingston made such nice DIMM's for a reasonable price.

---Storage--- Nothing much to see here folks, the usual SSD & HDD combo.

---GPU--- I can't say enough how lucky I was to get this card for the price. I was originally going to get the SC version of the card for around $290-ish (I think...) but then Amazon.ca had these FTW 4GB cards for around $320. So I went to my local Memory Express and they price-matched it for about $300 before taxes! And that is the sole reason I have a 4GB 760.

---Case--- Well I fell in love with this case the moment I saw it, I will always recommend BitFenix cases to anyone! Pain in the a$$ for cable management though, I tried my best!

---PSU--- I know I overpayed for a 550W Full-Modular PSU. But it was totally worth it! Mostly got it because it matched my case :P

---Keyboard--- This thing i]s great for gaming but ]sh!t for typing... it alway]s make]s "]" (<<those) whenever I pre]s]s "S". ]s]s]s]s]s]s]s]s]s]s]s]s]s]s]s]s]s]s]s]s }So editing thi]s thing wa]s a pain for me!! (I didn't take them out for thi]s part a]s an ex]sample ;P) 10/10 DON'T BUY

-----PERFORMANCE----- Well I am very surprised by this PC so far! It's ran everything I've thrown at it perfectly! I was surprised the most by how it ran Watch_Dog(e)s! (Free with GPU! :D) High/Ultra settings and it keeps up to around 40-60FPS, I thought I wouldn't be able to run it! My current screen is only 1680x1050 so when I get a 1080p monitor I hope the settings should still be good!

-----WHATS NEXT?----- -Well changing this garbage keyboard will be numero uno! -As I said earlier i plan to throw an i5/i7 into my rig to make the MOBO fell happy. -Next will be a 780ti or 290x, gotta throw the biggest GPU I can into this small build as I only have on PCI slot -Up next will be another stick of memory -And if I have the $$$ I plan to go full Portal themed on this build! Custom watercooling loop with blue and orange tubing! The sticker on the side is like whole reason this whole Portal idea stated!

Well if you read all of that good job! Gold star!

Thanks for reading and post your comments below! :)

Great build Penguin. So would you truly reccomend the i3 4130? I was going to choose this CPU, but my friend said it was bad for multitasking, etc. Here is the budget build I plan to build. Can you please change my mind to want this CPU? I would upgrade to something better way down the line.

I would recommend it 100%! It has really surprised me so far on what it can do, I've had music playing while playing Payday 2 (135fps) while looking at deals on steam, for that much multitasking id totally recommend it! If you need like crazy multitasking like having Photoshop, excel, heavy video rendering, and some other ridiculous stuff open all at once, then i wouldn't recommend it. But if your going for a budget gaming build it's an amazing choice! People think it's trash because "It's an i3!" but those people are very wrong! I have had no problems with this little guy!

Thank you so much! That IS the kind of multitasking I need, but my friend said it could not handle that. Thanks Penguin, I am definitely going for this! +1

Gotta love Memory Express and their Price Beat program! How did you score that motherboard for free? And I agree 100% on the Prodigy just was out of my budget. Nice build on all accounts +1

I know right! & thanks :) I got it from my dad as he saw I was going to get a cheap MOBO he decided to buy a really expensive one :p

Awesome build great part choices but I hear bad things about those SSD's.

CanadianPenguin submitter 3 Builds 1 point 59 months ago

There honestly not to bad! It's just my boot drive so as long as it boots up fast (as it does) im not to picky!

Hyper Threading gets underrated so much because everyone just thinks of it as an i7 feature. They run game tests with i7s and show that HT doesn't affect performance noticeably, and they discount it as useless. Of course HT doesn't help i7s much in gaming, just in rendering, because very few games can use more than 4 threads. So HT is often a non-factor in i7s, as they already have 4 cores and the extra threads just sit idle in most games.

But when you get an i3, where the extra HT threads can actually be used, it makes a massive difference nearly all the time.

Indeed it does! This i3 has surprised so much, id recommend it to anyone! So far its only weakness is Minecraft... found that a tad strange...
