Description

This PC is used for streaming on twitch.tv/master9006. I built it to be able to stream at high quality and play games at the highest settings and still have room to spare!

One ram stick was bad so I am getting a replacement on that, but everything else is working perfectly. I will be working on overclocking after I get the replacement ram.

Edit: So much hate on the CPU cooler! I used it for my last computer and I knew it worked well so I just got it again. I didn't look to much further into it.

New pic added the front and test cable management is clearly not my thing lol.

Also I wish I would have had more feed back before I bought everything! Oh well I don't think I will ever build a PC that is perfect there is always going to be something not right about it.

dont you think it's funny how most the people hating on the cpu cooler don't have any builds themselves

We love this build but I'm sure we'd like to see a better cooler.

That moment when your optical drive is more expensive than your CPU cooler xD

Wow. I wish I had this much money to spend on a PC. However, for your budget I feel like you skimped on the CPU cooler.

That my friend is one beautiful system! I would have thought you might have gone with a 750gb or even 1tb hdd. But if you still can scrape together $100 you could get a 3tb seagate barracuda drive.

Thanks! I have a 1tb HD listed there in addition with the 2 SSD's. I still have my old PC so I have lots of storage!

Does it cook and clean your house also?

I suppose some of us, most of us, all of us are really jealous that someone can spend $5k on parts that will be a fraction of the cost in 4 years and obsolete in double that. Enjoy your awesome rig and watch out for crumbs from eating crackers with caviar over the keyboard. :)

That's the sad part about building a nice computer it gets out dated so fast

  • 2 points

Honestly this looks really sweet but I would have went with a 4930K. You will be very hard pressed to find a situation where the extra 3MB of L3 and the slightly raised clock speed will offer significant enough of a difference to justify the $1000 price tag. I have the 4930K and I love it. Personally I would have saved the $400 and put it towards a better cooler (maybe a h100i) a larger HDD and some other miscellaneous things that suite ones fancy I use it and it is absolutely awesome. Just my thoughts. Everything else is pretty top notch .

Hows gaming on the 3 1440 monitors w the 2 780ti? Im just about to start my build i have everything except monitors

  • 1 point

It's really nice for what I use it for. I can have my streaming apps/chat and such on one screen the game on one and a browser on the other for guides and what not.

I messed with the surround a bit where you can have the game across all three monitors but I didn't like it. I'm sure it is nice for some games, but not something I would ever use.

As far as the performance goes it is flawless. Everything runs at max settings 60+ fps even when streaming at high compression (high cpu usage)

  • 2 points

Cable management will also help temps too! Bad cable management can interrupt your air flow. It's a fantastic manchine I personally would have gone a different route with that budget but hey hopefully over time I can post mine up! Unfortunately it's not quite complete yet I am waiting on a few things LOL! I realy like the majority of the parts you went with they are great but I would have saved several hundred in a few areas and gone with a single powerful GPU and slapped a custom loop liquid cooling system for the CPU and GPU! Anyhow to each their own and I know with two 780's you get the performance you're after for twitch so I can't blame ya there. Anyhow it's a wonderful machine and it's nice to see peeps put some real money down on awesome builds like yours!

  • 1 point

Thanks man! I wanted to get fancy with some custom liquid cooling, but I didn't feel comfortable with it since I have never done it before and would hate to ruin a new computer, so I just went with the factory sealed don't have to worry about refilling or leaking!

I know I could have spent less and would have had just as good of performance like even with the motherboard I could have got the regular one instead of the black edition, but I was also going for looks the black edition looks so nice!

And yes I need to work on the cables I spent a long time getting everything set up that day I was to the point that I just wanted to plug everything in and be done lol.

  • 1 point

Oh yea I feel ya there the cables can take up like another 4 hours if you do them right. I mean in all honesty I reran my cables more than ones each time finding a way to make everything more convenient while still being clean and neat!

On another note I was referring to the triple Titan I personally think two would have been enough considering the resolution of your monitors but I still love the thought of knowing you popped 3 in there LOL! Things like simply going for a larger capacity storage device instead of multiple SSD and HDD is what I meant really but I remember you explaining about how you backed certain things to a 2TB but I was thinking a 256GB SSD would have saved a few dollars as well rather than the 2 128GB. From what I have heard RAIDs tend to actually slow SSD performance under certain instances than standing alone.

You still have my envy with that rig no doubt though! If you are looking for detailed information for a custom liquid cooling build I would recommend tomshardware.com there is a water cooling sticky on that forum that is incredibly useful and FrozenCPU.com for quality parts!

In the end its a fantastic machine none the less and I hope to get my rig to that point at some point. Specifically at least 1 Titan but at least the 64GB RAM and max my Asus Rampage IV. I would love to have the Black Edition but if I got that I would just be buying an unncessary luxury as my Rampage is still a great mobo.

Question do you feel that the X series Intel CPU over the K series one (as far as hex core CPus go) made that much more of a difference for you? Anyhow dude I hope to see photos of your rig completely water cooled at some point and I wish you the best!

P.S. How does one go about renting their computer as a server for games? Also is something like Windows Ultimate better or obligatory for this or would Professional be good enough to still rent it as a server? I would appreciate any info you could provide! :)

Nice~~ The CPU cooler is fine it's an Intel. Maybe would have 3 way SLI 780's personally idk about 2 ti's vs 3 780's for about the same price. nice build all in all man wish I have 4 more grand to spend on a computer.

  • 2 points

there's no point; at all; to go 3 way sli...

  • 2 points

i'm pretty sure that 780x3 would give better performance than 780tix2 because everything i've seen shows that 780ti scales very shittily in sli

  • 2 points

3 way sli is way more likely going to give trouble in games than 2 way sli + 3 way sli 780 is not near the price of 2 way sli 780 ti...

  • 1 point

at minimum prices it is 170$ difference, so that argument is moot and that guy said personally so he may or may not play games that are 3way compatible

but will it play minecraft? lol

It will, lol. Probably when using 1.8, It will boost up to 200+ fps

  • note that minecraft is an cpu-oriented game, atleast just for rendering and chunk stuff...

With your monitors arranged in Surround, have you put any thought into how you wanted to arrange them? I've got my own and it's hard to find a nice angle for everything to be seemless. Atm I've got my center monitor in front of the two side monitors to decrease bezel correction. The left monitor seems fine but the monitor one seems more skewed then I'd hope for. So much hassle. Any advice?

  • 1 point

I didn't like the surround set up I switch to all monitor I stream a lot, so it only makes sense to have a game on one monitor for me at least. Sorry I can't be of help.

considering you spent almost 4800 dollars on pc parts, why didn't you just spring for an h100i or an h110 or a h105?

This build seems more like a "hey I have lots of money; let's spend it in all the wrong ways" build. You could get the same performance for about half the price.

  1. Complete waste of money on the CPU and motherboard.
  2. Raiding SSDs has been proven to be pointless except in edge cases. You aren't really going to notice a difference in game load times.

I would have gone with a i7-4770K (-$750), Asus Sabertooth Z87 (-$240), a single 250GB Evo (-$90), DDR3-1600 RAM (-$15), no optical drive (-$66), no OS (-$130), 2x QNIX QX2710 (-$500) and obtained a performance on par (gaming-wise) to this actual system while saving just under $1800.

  • 5 points

True I knew this going in to it, but if you were given an option to buy what ever you wanted would you go over board or buy what makes sense? I chose to go over board.

And yes raiding the SSDs was a silly idea, but I thought I would try it.

Thanks for the feed back

For this budget shaving $15 off the ram isn't even worth mentioning. And for what he's spending already, I would just buy the damn OS. You're probably right about the monitor though.
