Description

Explanation of some of the hardware choices.

Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Why this CPU and not the i7- 4770k? Well i have a i7-4770k but this i5 overclocked a TON better then the i7. Some reason the i7 runs at like 48c right out of the box.. im going to delid it and add some good thermal paste..... so I got EXTREMELY lucky on my i5 :0 But i will say for video editing the hyper-threading on the i7 would be better .

G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-2400- Before you start trolling about the 16GB of ram , The reason behind this is because i have had this ram for over a year now and it was free!! you can never go wrong with too much ram.

X2 Samsung 840 Pro Series 256GB 2.5" SSD- Why do i have Two SSDs? Well that because there in RAID 0 configuration of course. Better performance. Faster read and write times!

Dell S2440L 24.0" Why this Screen? well it was free... cant go wrong with that!

NZXT HUE RBG Controller. Why did i get this? Well because i like to daydream all the time and its nice to have pretty colors flashing in front of me.

What is this computer used for? Photo/Video Editing and Moderate gaming. Moderate OCing, Bench-marking All around balanced PC that doesn't hurt the wallet too bad.

*EDIT " Need to think of a good name to call this thing" Please give me some ideas !

Thanks for looking!

This so much. 5 ghz. Not even fair.

Holy mother of processors?! 5 ghz tell me about it. How did it reach like that with a decent temp o.O

Like 1 out of 1000s will be extremely good. I also have air conditioning in the room freezing. Lol

Damn. I thought you delid (spelling i forgot) your cpu.i want to overclock like that. Only 8350 reach 5 ghz with moderate oc though i wished i would get one like that :(

I can't even get 4.6 out of my 8350 :(

You are so lucky. I envy this. Good build.

Thx! I have the lights on plus.. reminds me of a fish tank. Ha. Next build might have to be a fish tank mineral oil build.

I mean seriously, 5GHz? Does it run hot at all?

  • 4 points

When you make the LEDs blue it runs about 30 degrees cooler! Im not jokein :)

  • 3 points

Brb, throwing every light in my house into my case. Haha - you won the lottery man. That's a great chip.

  • 2 points

Great build. Love free stuff too. But you might want to change the monitor for improved performance and awesomeness.

  • 2 points

Yea the screen was free. I do also have a 23 inch ACER touchscreen also!

  • 1 point

gotcha. You're getting lots of comments cuz it's a pretty bad *** build!

No way this isn't a cherry-picked CPU.

/sarcasm (Don't get mad at me)

lol i actually got this CPU the day it was released. :)

NICE. :D

What voltage?

Can you post what settings you used to achieve this overclock? That is crazy!

Sure my cpuz val is in the pictures. :)

  • 2 points

thanks.. I see it.. That's a low temp for such a high Vcore. Guess you won the silicon lottery.

Nice build man! But I always wonder what benefits you get with 5ghz speed in everyday computing?

  • 2 points

Thanks! I dont run 5 GHz on a daily basis. I run 4.2GHz daily :) I want to keep my CPU longer then a year lol

I'm really digging the NZXT Hue!

Wow I'm really surprised you got that Haswell 4670k to run stable at 5.0 and only get 78 at max load. Did you run a good test with Prime95( like an hour or more)? I had trouble with my daughter's 4770k at just 4.5, so I set hers lower and reapplied thermal paste. I wouldn't try to set that chip off hers anywhere near that. I'm afraid it would burn out her components. Good job.

"Dooh!" Just read the comments. Running yours at 4.2. gotcha.

It's really the luck of the draw on your chip. Thankfully I'm fortunate enough to pick though my CPUS lol. :)

Awesome. I have a regular"Not gonna go up without a fight" 4770k :{

Maybe a little late but for the name: i5.0Ghz

Does the CPU pass 20 runs of Intel Burn Test on maximum? If it doesn't I would worry about crashes in games and editing.

  • 1 point

so wait if i put 2 ssds in my pc i will have speed like u? and where did u find that background? i want it

  • 1 point

That all depends on your specs on your SSDs. You will need to set it up in your BIOS to RAID 0. What drives do you have? there are lots of videos online that will tell you all about them and the specs of all the diff drives. I would explain it on here but that's allot of typing and it would be just easier for you to look on line. :)

Did you custom make the side window or is that something that came with the case/did you order this separately?

I've got the Fractal R4 and I like the side window but I would LOVE to have a side window like this...

a good name for the build... The Dreamer :) (since you like to daydream^)

  • 2 points

What side window??

  • 2 points

Okay the whole see through panel, is it custom made or is there a place I can order a full side panel like that

  • 3 points

I'm pretty sure he just took off the side panel..

Haha oh wow... facepalm

Did you change fans on the H100i? Or can the stock fans use the color inserts?

  • 2 points

Yes i changed the fans. The stock do not have the interchangeable rings.

  • 1 point

wow that's fast! very nice!

How did you get those things that can adjust the brightness/power etc on the 2nd last pic?!

EDIT: Nevermind :)

how did u mount the 240 water cooling

  • 1 point

you do know that RAID 0 with SSDs can actually kill them right..? not to mention that most RAID controllers can hardly keep up with the speed and most of the time can even slow the SSDs down.

  • 1 point

well see about that

  • 1 point

Damn, your one of the lucky ones! I can only get 4.5ghz with those temps

  • 1 point

i like what you did for this build. incredible specs! great job!

  • 1 point

I'm just about to build one very similar to yours! Without the raid 0 ssds though lol. Any tips? Also did you mount the H100i in push config?

  • 1 point

I suppose you can call it the hulk. It is, after all, green and powerful.

  • 1 point

Almost 1.4 Volt i thing if CPU could talk it would say "I am on FIREEEE" And cool build bro :D

Why have you got a bitfenix logo as your screensaver when nothing is from bitfenix??

Other than that, it's a very nice build apart from that you didn't need that speed of RAM as it makes no difference really (It's all about timings/latency)

  • 4 points

Its just a background lol . Thanks

  • 2 points

Shoot, I'm sorry... I never realized that you where the guy behind the "green machine". That's a very good build and I love the colours of it.
