Description

Update 1: added 3 more white EK Vardars and photo, 2x vardars NG for rattling and have asked for RMA from watercoolingUK, also added correct pricing by manually inputting what Pcpartpicker did not have. have also updated my current overclock settings, running 3.9ghz on ryzen stable and 2025mhz on CPU and 11680mhz on ram.

Update 2: registering GPU today and realised id ordered SC black edition not SC2 this is awesome news as I can fit an off the shelf waterblock.

This build was so much fun, been something I have wanted to do for years but cost always stopped me, this black Friday that went out the window, Bought all the bits id been looking at for ages with some great savings.

Still unsure this point how my cooling was going to go so built up what I had.

The case was my starting point, cant over emphasize how much I love this case, it looks stunning and is great to work with and for the price you cant go wrong, I got the aurora fan version and the fans are awesome .

Installing the K7 and the 1700X was a breeze and the only fault I can find with the K7 is the RGB fusion software is a crock of S**T, other than that its a winner, The Team Night Hawk ram is way better and heavier than I expected.

My first ever M2 drive was a bit of a shock as I never knew just how small they are but was a breeze to install.

The GPU was a bargain in the sales, my only issue is there is no water block for it, there is a workaround for this which I am going to do at a later date after deciding to go watercooling.

Power supply was bought in white so I did not have to buy custom white cables, completely silent.

At this point I had zero cooling and was still up in the air before I decided to just go all out and try watercooling, did my research and bought a load of gear from EKWB and waited what felt like an age to arrive from Slovenia (was cheaper than buying from overclockers).

Slowly put all of the watercooling components in over a couple of days before jumping into the world of pipebending, Its not easy and does require some skill but a novice can learn, I had only the basics and my wifes hairdryer with a custom cardboard box mount to hold it (HAHAHAHA) and off I went, Quite impressed I only wasted 2 length all in all, there is a couple of small blemishs in one of the bends but im satisfied with it for now until I dare void the GPU warranty.

Next came the most terrifying thing ive done, leak testing it over 24 hrs, dont think I left the machine for the first 3 and did not enjoy going to bed wondering if it had decided to drown my GPU.

Next morning I had nothing to worry about and it was all fine, Getting all of the distilled water out was a bit of a nightmare even with a tap at the lowest point, trial error taught me I had to hold the case at various angles, felt like a game show trying to get the last bits out.

Filled up with cryo acid green coolant and it looked stunning, it would not be till later when it was lit up id find just how much better it could look.

Tidied up all the wiring and got the desk ready, installed the x34 monitor (Stunning) on a invision flex arm as the stand though beautiful could survive a direct strike from a nuke and was far too big.

Booted up computer and installed windows in 5 minutes, I still havnt recovered from this, the days of sitting for an hour or 2, Windows 10 update on the other hand took an age and im still installing the first games as I did not buy a disk drive, so while im waitng I thought id let you guys know about my adventures and all I can say is bite the bullet and do it, its an awesome ride and ive enjoyed every minute of it (except the leak test part) now to enjoy some games and jump into the ovcerclocking world :PPPP

Build looks great! Whole setup is amazing too. Hope your SC Black edition overclocks better than mine. I only get +50 on the core and +100 on the memory.

VapelordTakeTheL 1 Build 2 points 12 months ago

No mass storage drive?

crazyspike submitter 1 Build 2 points 12 months ago

No 2 500gb should be enough, have another older PC which has 2tbs may add a Hybrid drive later for Mass storage

How have the Team ram been for you? saw a bunch of mixed reviews on newegg about lighting making weird noise, and other issues. Really wanted to get that in my new build but pulled the trigger on another set.

crazyspike submitter 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

Its silent so far but I hope to push it this weekend will let you know how it goes, deffo will built ram mind

insertusernameandsoul 2 points 12 months ago

Very nice build in the Inwin 303. Love this custom build in this case. Question the green fluid is because your pc is being cooled by FEV fluid or just purr toxins form the wasteland.

Also how you enjoying the X34 I have one my self and like knowing how others are enjoying their monitor (or not enjoying and listening to their horror stories)

crazyspike submitter 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

Definitely FEV, and the X34 is stunning from what I have seen so far, backlight bleed is not too bad really and Ive seen no evidence of flickering at 100hz

insertusernameandsoul 2 points 12 months ago

Ayy I still got my fallout lore on point. Good to know your having a great experience with the monitor. Last recommendation would be to maybe change that one black fan.

crazyspike submitter 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

Waiting in 3 more white EK vardas to arrive this week (out of stock), 1 for the back and 2 more for the bottom :P

crazyspike submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

white Vardas arrived and 2 of them are NG for rattle :( will be after christmas when they can be replaced

insertusernameandsoul 2 points 11 months ago

BOOO. Ay congress on the feature. Totally deserved it.

crazyspike submitter 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

Cheers everyone, respect, overjoyed that something I always wanted to do made it to a featured build, almost makes me want to do another :P Seriously though Thanks...:P

Clemeit 2 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

Hehe I ditched my x34 stand ASAP as well. That thing took up the majority of my limited desk space :) It's a great looking monitor, on and off. Glad to hear you're not seeing too much light bleed. Mine has some minor bleed which is apparent when watching 16:9 YouTube videos, but no issues whilst gaming. Rock on! Love the build, and congrats on feature!

ImperiousBattlestar 2 points 11 months ago

Congrats on the feature!

malm123 2 points 11 months ago

that thermal grizzly stuff is supposed to be used on GPUs only i heard. just fyi. If it is the liquid metal one.

crazyspike submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

No m8...its hydronaut for watercooling.

Toledo090819 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

you still got plastic on the feet of your monitor bro! nice build man. thats my next upgrade. custom water loop

crazyspike submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Cos I knew stand was going in the loft..no point unwrapping it... on a lifter now...

Toledo090819 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

That's good. And I didn't know that bro

KEN.SG 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

Outstanding Build..(My first ever M2 drive was a bit of a shock as I never knew just how small they are but was a breeze to install.) Same here also M.2 Drives are so small :) But I will never go back to a reg spinning Drive..Love those little guys..(Like a stick of gum ..LOL)

SirHalpin 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

I dont like InWin, Gigabyte, Team, or green coolant but this is a solid, good-looking build. grats, can't wait to see you include the GPU in the custom loop. +1

crazyspike submitter 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

Soon as I dare

SirHalpin 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

I just bought an EVGA 1080ti SC2 Hybrid, and I'm happy with it, but seems silly to go custom loop with mine after I spent the premium on the AIO cooler. And I have a Corsair H110i for my CPU, so I'm getting plenty of cooling, its just not as efficient or cool as a custom loop perhaps. It's one hell of a leap to make

crazyspike submitter 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

PC in living room so wanted it to look showpiece rather than box in the corner, also its something ive always really wanted to do.

SirHalpin 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

you and me both, Mr. Spike

AnimeGamer 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

This special edition star wars GTX Titian XP would look so cool in this build https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/star-wars-jedi-order-titan-xp-collectors-edition/

skyrise 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

Nice case and config. +1

Reggamer 2 points 11 months ago

Beautiful build. Absolutely stunning. Thanks for taking progressive, high-quality pictures and to even go as far as writing a summary of the procedure and your thoughts. Really felt like I built it along with you after I finished reading and viewing the post.

Enjoy! : )

LightningManGTS 2 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

Thats a lot of radiator for just a 1700x, altough when you go full water cooling it be slight not enough, I myself have a an 1800x and a 1080 ti ftw3 that a 240mm and 420mm radiator just barley keep em tamed. You also really should of gone for evga's hydrocopper variant of your card instead of trying to finagle a block for the sc2 later when you decided to custom watercool since they don't sell the blocks separately and I don't remember anyone else making blocks for the sc2 pcb. you should be still able to use evga's step up program however to send your current card into them and have them send you back the sc/sc2/ftw3 hydrocopper for the difference. otherwise best of luck in your endeavors.

crazyspike submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

My plan is to use the standard ek waterblock..only requires a small couple of adjustments to the acrylic to make it work

Also planning a second 360 along the bottom of the case when I do add the you into the loop

Songster 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

Man, you get a +1 on GP. (General principle).

Well done fellow pc builder.Well done indeed.

schultz.drew 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

How do you like that desk? I was looking on IKEA and plan on getting this desk, I just don't want to spend the $210 for it quite yet.

crazyspike submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Love the desk...loads of space really deep draws and in the UK only cost £129

schultz.drew 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

Whaaaaat. that's only $153.70 USD. :( it's $207.99 here

Maple_Syrup 2 Builds 2 points 11 months ago
