Description

Hello, I am Frostbite and this build is a case and mod update to my previous build which can be found here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/82921-wip-frostbites-blood-prodigy-m-r9-280x/ . I plan on water-cooling in the future and further improve this build with small mods here and there (currently in college so it may take a while). When I first saw this case and its build quality I could not resist getting it but Phanteks did not make their White version white inside and out. This was the first thing I did upon receiving the case, strip it down, scuff it, and paint it white. This build follows the Red and White color scheme which in my opinion is more of a challenge than your typical Black and Red pc build.

For the currents mods I will explain them picture by picture here http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/33295d/build_complete_frostbites_phanteks_evolv_whiteout/

(Yes I do have two Kingston SSD in Raid 0 and I bought them over a year and half ago by now so I apologize in advance, if I knew I would be boycotting them too)

The only editing done to these pictures is the addition of a cool filter due to the fact that every picture came out with a warm tint caused by the lighting in the room. I had a friend of mine take pictures with his DSLR which outright destroys my IPhone pictures so enjoy them and feel free to ask me questions.

That is one sexy machine...

kwwuu 5 points 45 months ago

Awesome build perfect for smooth 1080p gaming, but dammit man, list the price for us. or at least tell me an estimate of how much it cost. anyway love how it looks.

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 4 points 45 months ago

1000$ all around I believe. some more for paint drills, dremels, etc.

Corbindalllas 2 points 45 months ago

good build and pics

Octothorpe 2 Builds 2 points 45 months ago

Beautiful. The last thing I would do is take the two separate cables that come out of the usb 3 header and tie them together.

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 45 months ago

I may sleeve them in the future. thanks :D

staffsMike 2 points 45 months ago

I love my Phanteks too. I take it you modded the window yourself, it looks great! I was torn by the colour but went black in the end.

mlach 4 Builds 2 points 45 months ago

This build looks incredible! +1 all around.

How did you pull off those cable ties? They look awesome.

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 45 months ago

Lacing is the technique.

mlach 4 Builds 2 points 45 months ago

Ahhh, very impressive Jedi

eopest 9 Builds 2 points 45 months ago

Your lacing fu is very strong, Master. :)

powellbm86 9 Builds 2 points 45 months ago

Amazing job. The custom cables are a very nice touch. Well done.

Meithen 2 Builds 2 points 45 months ago

Amazing build, and great idea with the white paracord!

SpicyPickle 1 Build 2 points 45 months ago

It's soooo good!

Nice build man +1

Cibex 2 points 45 months ago

Extremely nice rig! The case is pretty sweet as well but honestly that sleeve job bro! Damn!!! Um you taking orders cause I'm willing to pay!

Rashiq 2 points 45 months ago

RESPECT!! Combs of paracord was a lost art.....until now.

noahsgalaxy 1 Build 2 points 45 months ago

That is an awesome build!

Fupacheco 2 points 45 months ago

Great built and pictures dude. I would be willing to pay good money to have a good looking computer like yours. The images are also sexy.

oCollective0circuits 2 points 45 months ago

I like the aesthetic of the cooler, how does it stand compared to an EVO?

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 45 months ago

I have not tried overclocking due to living in Florida and I have not tried the EVO so I could not tell you sorry :/

jacobs4525 1 Build 2 points 45 months ago

This makes me love Phanteks even more! The enthoo EVOLV was already such a sexy case by itself, and it looks fantastic with the inside painted white. +1

Tagiau 2 points 45 months ago

The cables must have been a pain.

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 4 points 45 months ago

It was fun and relaxing actualy

MalevolentDood 2 points 45 months ago

I love clean-looking small factor builds. <3

BULLSEYE 1 Build 2 points 45 months ago

harryd2110 2 points 45 months ago

Do you have any tutorials for how to lace the cables like this?

biggles5107 2 Builds 2 points 45 months ago

That is one slick looking build. Awesome job on the cable sleeving. I plan to do that eventually in my build but not quite to that level lol.

ankousmachine 2 Builds 2 points 45 months ago

wow just wow, very very nice! hows that video card? looks interesting lol.

1+

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 45 months ago

It does the job, i will upgrade to a 290 if they go even cheaper and watercool

boss1234100 1 Build 1 point 43 months ago

you posted the same comment twice

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 45 months ago

It does the job, plan to go for the 290 and watercool in the future

65Wats 1 Build 2 points 45 months ago

Wow! you got some great deals on those parts! XD

GMAN-DV8 1 Build 2 points 45 months ago

Now that's a clean build. The system is setup with the right parts for the right case. The direct airfow is gonna keep those components nice and cold. Nice build man one of my new favorites!

lunarose 2 points 45 months ago

drools can i have one at that price? i can handle $0.00

bigg_critter 1 Build 2 points 45 months ago

so nice man! I went with red, white, and black theme myself. this is amongst the cleanest builds I have seen on here. +1

loy12mc 2 Builds 2 points 45 months ago

those cable macros... This site is better thanks to people like you

TNH1111 1 Build 2 points 45 months ago

Very nice. That cable job is sick!

MightyMango 2 points 45 months ago

Omg! What a beautiful build! I...I must have! ;-;

buckeyefan63 2 points 45 months ago

In all honesty, you could have done way better for the money, but it's a good looking build.

vordar 1 Build 2 points 45 months ago

What did you do with the mobo? It looks like the sabertooth special cover on it, but the mobo you have listed doesn't look like it even comes with a non white cover. Did you paint it or find a sabertooth cover to fit? I've been looking at trying to do a white build (only parts of it) and can't shake the feeling I get from that board. While it's a winter camo, even an all white cover wouldn't be bad.

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 45 months ago

They sell the kit saperatly and I painted it before placing it on the mobo

PCPickerN00B 2 points 45 months ago

How did you get the white power supply? Or did you mod it? If so how?

Sexiest build ever tho!

vordar 1 Build 1 point 45 months ago

Looking as close as I can, it looks like the mobo is painted, but the back of the PS still looks EVGA black, so paint looks like a good bet.

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 45 months ago

painted it :)

PCPickerN00B 1 point 45 months ago

Can you link the paint? Please?

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 45 months ago
PCPickerN00B 2 points 45 months ago

Thanks man! I am looking to paint some thermal armour too so hopefully this will do the job!

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 45 months ago

Ohhhhh, I used plasti dip for the thermal armor, sorry I thought you meant the case

beLIEve 2 points 45 months ago

i love the small form factor and i've been looking at that case for a mini atx build i love sleeved cables but the white paracord lacing i don't like. it reminds me of football laces but that is my only gripe. +1

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 45 months ago

Understandable for the lacing, but footballs use different materials so it does not remind me of those.

Qbuo 2 points 45 months ago

I wanna see some acrylic tubing on here!!!

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 45 months ago

I thought about it and was looking to do flexible with sleeving around it.

Qbuo 2 points 45 months ago

If you do flexible, then I hope you use some fat red tubes, with the right fittings that would be beautiful.

Qbuo 1 point 44 months ago

Ohh yeah, clear tubing with vivid coolant always looks nice.

PureBlackFire 1 Build 2 points 45 months ago

this is one of the best evolv builds I've seen. good job!

xarop_pa_toss 2 points 45 months ago

I'm making this build next month BUT... in cyan/blue =D

RAM is available in blue and so is the Phanteks case and CPU fans. The mobo will be different: I'll be using an ASRock Z97 Anniversary which is blue and black IF I don't have the extra money for the armored Gryphon (quite the price difference). I couldn't find blue Silverstone cables but Corsair and EVGA do sell some, I'll be braiding with white as well. Ah almost forgot, I plan on doing a custom blue paint job on the case itself. Probably using a very enlarged Cloud 9 Logo on the non-window side and top.

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 44 months ago

Send me a link when you finish it :)

xarop_pa_toss 2 points 44 months ago

Of course!

xarop_pa_toss 2 points 45 months ago

I would freakin kill for purple fans and ram though... would do a killer white/purple PC

Techie 1 Build 2 points 44 months ago

Now THAT is a colour co-ordinated build! +1 for great aesthetics.

Monstro-Builder 2 points 43 months ago

I can haz deez pc? Pweety Pwease? 100+

MouldyCarrots 2 points 42 months ago

DAMN THATS ONE SEXY BUILD! Really awesome job! I just have one question. Where did you put the NZXT HUE? I couldn't spot it in any of your pictures and was wondering as I may get this same case, but want to able to do some RGB lighting. Cheers :)

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 42 months ago

Dismantled it and placed it in the back.

MouldyCarrots 1 point 42 months ago

Ah ok thanks

Sp4rky 2 points 41 months ago

very tidy indeed, crisp like freshly driven snow (with some woodchopper red thrown in?!??!) nice build

Jake1981 2 Builds 2 points 40 months ago

My eyeballs now have diabetes from this eye candy <3

Kidhitler 2 points 31 months ago

that's a seriously beautiful creature you have created.

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 31 months ago

Thank you!

Pfffmayne 4 Builds 2 points 23 months ago

this is what the side panel should be like , i really love the case but the window is just awkward to me

Jungstarrock 1 Build 2 points 20 months ago

Best looking PC I have seen so far!

salomonhayat 2 points 12 months ago

this exact build can it run csgo tf2 and ovr watch (some of the games im trying to play on pc) just wondering bcuz it looks nice and im trying to buy a good pc i have a pretty **** one rn that runs tf2 and csgo @ like 20 frames on ultra low

PotatechG 2 points 10 months ago

What is asus armor kit?

CyborgHobbit 1 point 45 months ago

What inspired you to replace the 200mm fan that came in the front with dual 140mm fans?

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 45 months ago

Dual 120mm because the 200mm in black and white and i wanted to get rid as of much black as possible.

CyborgHobbit 2 points 45 months ago

Good reason. Love the build.

monkeybars 1 point 45 months ago

What's this about Kingston being boycotted?

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 45 months ago

They switched the components they used after sending review samples, so the public ones were slower.

xarop_pa_toss 2 points 45 months ago

Hey, did you ever consider another case? The Phanteks is a bit out of my budget... do you recommend any other case that is white, has a window and is the same size factor as the EVOLV?

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 44 months ago

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/nzxt-case-s210e002

or

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/nzxt-case-s210002

You would have to make the window, 5$ plexi glass from lowes and borrow a neighbors dremel

xarop_pa_toss 2 points 44 months ago

Those look nice, I could paint the black parts cyan as well... I do have a NOX Magma though. It's an old Mid ATX case, all metal which makes it heavy as hell. It has a huge window with a fan on it and a fan up front as well. Problem is the fans have red lights, maybe I could replace those. The case is silver but I can spray paint it white both inside and out.

http://computermax.org/images/800x800/6221

I need to give it some thought, depends on the budget I can get. I think it ventilates alright, but not sure, haven't used it in years.

monkeybars 1 point 45 months ago

Gross.

cookie_yoda_365 1 Build 1 point 45 months ago

Does that copper heatpipe bother anyone else?

Cibex 1 point 45 months ago

Man I wish Phanteks would make those 120mm White/Red fans for retail. The 140mm won't fit in the Air 240

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 3 points 45 months ago

agreed

yukisaruwatari 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Did you mod the side windows ? I am having the save case as you and the only thing i hate is the windows being so small

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Yeah I did :)

yukisaruwatari 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

You did it yourself or go to a store?

Lost2Frostbite submitter 3 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Myself, started with a dremel and realized that wasn't strong enough so I used an angle grinder. Sanded the edges a little and a quick coat of paint to keep it white.

mikellas041 1 point 35 months ago

Why the prices are 0$?

Lif3 1 point 28 months ago

I looove This build!
