Description

I recently put my rig into an NZXT H440. I absolutely love this case. Coming from a HAF 912, though, I was worried that my parts would heat up quite a bit due to the reduced airflow, but temps are quite bearable. All in all, I really love this case. It looks beautiful and cable management is a breeze (you can stuff all of your cables under the power supply shroud instead of tying them along the back of the MB tray. This case, though, is not perfect. I had some trouble with front panel I/O, specifically the front USB 3.0. It was quite a chore fitting it into my motherboard and I even bent some pins and had to fix them with tweezers. Also, NZXT could've done a better job in placing the 3.5" bays, they're literally situated directly in front of the path of airflow and deflect all cold air from the GPU and CPU. However, I am happy with this case, it is much better than the HAF 912 and will be in my possession for a very long time.

Your cpu cooler might be facing the wrong way. If it is, you're further complicating your cooling problems by having it fight with your rear exhaust. - Though I can't see the fan so it could be facing the right way.

He probably doesn't have a choice. All 4 memory slots are populated and I don't think that cooler is particularly tall. The fan probably interferes with the heat spreaders on the first stick of ram while in the opposite orientation.

He actually would have a choice. The fan can be flipped so it is pulling air through the cooler instead of pushing it through. Again, he might have already done that. I can't tell from the pics.

Only meant choice in terms of what side of the cooler the fan is sitting on. (:

By the way - do you know of any evidence that push is superior to pull for cooling? I always feel more comfortable going in push setup but it an unsubstantiated preference...

I've heard dozens of arguments with no conclusive evidence. I hear that pull makes it easier to clean, but that's about it.

Guys, I have the cooler set up in pull. Temps are no different, but pull reduces dust buildup

The only thing the i dont like about that case is you cant fit optical drives. Otherwise great build +1

Thanks, I was concerned about that too, but external drives aren't that much more expensive than internal ones (only about 5 bucks depending on where you shop).

Haha thanks, I plan on getting some red sleeved cables in the near future

Good build man :) the Red and Black H440 is personally a BEAUTIFUL case to me, even with it's minor imperfections, but hey, nothing's perfect :) +1

Thanks, yeah there are some drawbacks with building in this case, but the finished product more than makes up for it.

Nice buld but the brown PCB looks quite ugly on the MOBO and the blue one on the GPu doesn't look the best either but ohwell. Nice Build anyways

Yeah, I don't know why MSI gaming mobos are advertised as black. And I think gigabyte figured that out about their cards, the new ones have black PCBs.

I almost bought the g45 but I saw the PCB and went with AMD and a nice Gigabyte 990fxa u9d3 mobo witha black PCB. I think the G65 has a black PCB but not 100% sure

The actual plastic base is black, but the printed circuits are brown, which gives the entire board that brown colour under bright light (such as camera flash).

Ok cool, so I guess in the dark or when inside a comuter it actually looks pretty good

Oh yes, even the blue from my GPU and RAM sticks don't clash as much. I really need to invest in a camera that'll show how sexy this rig is, lol.

I hardly notice the brown PCB. Maybe in real life you notice it more, but I wouldn't care.

Nice build. :)

Very good build, but you should have gotten some red RAM instead of blue. It would have meshed better with the case.

Thanks! Yeah, I was going to, but the blue RAM was on sale at the time, lol. In person, it doesn't clash as much, especially since the MOBO has blue LEDs on it for the CPU status indicator (or whatever it's called).

Should have gotten your RAM 2x8Gb, you would be able to upgrade to 32 if you want and it would have been cheaper

  • 1 point

Yeah, I got the first 8 gig kit last year when RAM was dirt cheap (before the factories burned down), and I got the second 8 gig kit when I noticed BF4 was crashing due to it maxing out my system RAM for some reason. I don't see myself using more than that since I only game and do some light work, but I'll probably upgrade my RAM once I need a new processor and motherboard.

I'm building a PC in a few weeks with that PSU and case combo, and if you dont have the cable extensions, does the regular CPU power cable reach the top of the case? Thanks!

  • 1 point

Absolutely. The cables on this PSU are quite long and the case is designed to be very accommodating. Good luck on your build!

Thanks for the reply man! And thanks, I'm sure I'll be great!

did you have trouble connecting your psu to your cpu connector? i wanted to get the same psu and case but i heard the psu has short cables.

  • 1 point

The CPU cable was shorter than I had expected, but it is long enough to reach the port on the motherboard. I am planning on getting bitfenix alchemy extensions, so that should alleviate some tension.

Hi, is the cooler touching de gpu?

  • 1 point

nope, far from it

  • 1 point

And did you try to keep the cooler fan in the other way? was it touching the ram? ty

  • 1 point

I used to have the cooler in pull (as you can see from the pics), but I sold my RAM sticks and bought a red dual channel kit from kingston to match the build. It's much lower than the vengeance RAN and allowed me to put the fan back in pull. Although, there really isn't any difference in temps.

Did you buy hyperx fury ram?

  • 1 point

yeah dawg, it looks even better in person. As soon as I have something that works better than a potato to take pictures with I'll update the photo album. I even have a red LED strip on top that gives me a hard-on everytime I look at my comp.

hows the monitor?

It isn't bad -- a very good 1080p display at an extremely low price. It's holding me over until my next GPU upgrade, at which time I'll likely move on to 4K
